I tried to look around a bit, but it's not clear whether the steering wheel is wrapped in leather or leatherette. This review says "The ID.4's front seats wear a faux black leather, while the steering wheel gets real cowhide trim.", but I just wanted to confirm if anybody around here knows for sure. Thanks in advance!

Apparently it has to be real leather for the capacitive touch functions (hands-on-wheel sensing in this instance).

Leatherette (vinyl plastic) elsewhere. -Not meaning to be negative, as leatherette is Much better these days than when first introduced. But it is a pretty good electrical insulator, so ...

Real leather and according to VW, they’re working on a leatherette version that’s still capacitive.
