It is so unbelievably loud, like I really can hardly believe that it's actually functioning as intended. I've never in my life heard a locking "chirp" sound like someone actually fully honking for a whole second, until now. I really hope they change it via OTA.

Key fob light feature?
I just noticed this and wondered if it is the same for everyone else or a part of my car's personality, and don't recall seeing it talked before or in the manual. When I lock the car with a key fob, the red light on it and the other fob starts fast blinking for a minute or two as long as they are in range of the car. Move them out of range and they stop, bring them back into range and they start again, and then eventually stop altogether.
At first I thought it was a bug or something wrong, but now I can see a little benefit in that you can use it to see if you locked the car as you are walking away....something I seem to find myself forgetting more and more!

This is pretty interesting and definitely a bit useful. However, I really really really wish VW would just add automatic locking. The car and key can clearly communicate to each other that they are close or far, because if (with auto unlocking enabled) you approach your car while it's locked, the doors will unlock, as expected, but then if you walk away again without touching a door handle, omg surprise! the car will automatically re-lock the doors!! Sooooo, VW, just make it...always do that. I know it is absolutely a first world problem, but I am extremely used to how the Bolt worked, where it just automatically locks once and and all fobs are far enough away. It's very convenient to literally just open the door and get out close the door and start walking without worrying about touching a very specific part of the handle or fishing the fob out of my pocket to lock the car, I just know it's locked when I'm walking away.In the four weeks I have had my ID4 I have only used the fob to open the car once and never used it to lock it. I always use the the area on the handle to lock it. The last two vehicles I have owned locked with a touch to the door handle and I've gotten used to doing it that way. About the only time my fob comes out of my pocket is to hang it on the key holder when I come into the house from the garage.
That's what the alarm button is for, imo.Loud horn is probably very useful when you forget where you parked the car
