VW dealership has my Kings Red. Went to check her out but alas they’re still prepping so I couldn’t test drive. Still let me have a look though! Kinda upset that they screwed the license plate frame on already, but I’ll manage. Figured I’d post here because I haven’t seen any real world photos of this color.

Maybe I am missing something; why do so many have a concern about putting screws/bolts into the the ID4 to mount the tags. Tags have been mounted that way for ever. And anyway, who ever notices how the tags are mounted, as long as they are secure and well placed!

Nice. Petty concern but it appears that the paint doesn't clash with the taillights. That bugs me on some cars. On your ID.4 they look complimentary.

I'm assuming that you got the Gradient package in order to get the car in King's Red...so that means you also got the brown interior accents, yes? Did you happen to take any pictures of the interior?

Looks very nice in that red! I notice yours might be the only US ID4 without front license plate holder. Consider yourself extra lucky.
And @lightblubug the dash doesn’t appear to be brown at all.

Legal requirements for a front plate vary greatly by region and I imagine those who live in places that don't require one would rather not have holes drilled in their cars for a thing they don't need.

Love my Dusk Blue, but I would have been really torn on launch day if this was available on the First Edition. I probably would have missed the reservation window before sell-out!

Love it in red. Couple questions. Why is a black roof considered a premium feature (what if i wanted a black id4 anyway?) And who would want roof rails with a panoramic glass roof? Also wondering why red is the one color that's $395 extra.

My suspicion is that there are a group of folks (like my parents) who the thing they care most about a car is whether it is red (red is a lucky color). I could definitely see some people getting the gradient + paying $400 just to have a red car.

Hah, if the FE had been available in red, I’d have had a long and stressful discussion with my wife. She in the blue camp, me rooting for red. Love the blue, don’t get me wrong, and marital bliss was preserved.

Red paint and a black roof are only considered "upgrades" if somebody is willing to pay for them. Same as black mirror caps or 20" wheels -- for appearances sake!
