Top O'the...
First time poster. Been a lurker since June 23rd, when we took delivery of our Moonstone Grey ID.4 Pro. Thanks to all who post questions and comments, thereby initializing dialog; I've learned a lot from all of you!
Once a week I charge at an EA station. I charge to 80 or 85%. If I run short before the week is up, I hook the Dub up to the Splitvolt Level 2 charger at the house; it gives me 20mph.
Here's my question that may have already been discussed but missed by me: Once 100% is reached on the Level 2 charger how imperative is it to disconnect right away? Is there harm done by leaving it connected? I have not charged to 100% at home, only on a road trip from Orlando to Atlanta and back. Once again, I apologize if this was addressed and I missed it. Thanks in advance for your comments.

There is no immediate harm if this happens occasionally but long term it is not good for the battery to sit days at 100% charge. So if you do this regularly either plan to drive the car soon after 100% is reached or charge to 80%-90%.

Thanks to all for your responses. Oh, the peace of mind... I do not plan to make a habit of charging to 100%, I just wondered what happens when that occurs. My plan is to charge enough to get me to my next "date" with EA.

Just to be clear, same thing is you partially charge. I'd you set the car to cut off at 80%, you can still remain plugged in forever and ever with no deleterious effects.

With both the 1st & 2nd generation Chevy Volts, Chevy always recommended leaving the EVSE plugged in in order to condition the battery for cooling in the summer and heating during the winter.

I don't see VW really addressing this issue withe ID.4. Could be the case the with the larger ID.4 battery that it just doesn't make much difference leaving the EVSE plugged in or removed. From a battery conditioning standpoint, I assume leaving the EVSE plugged in would still be a benefit for battery conditioning while parked.

It will, I believe, once the scheduled charging is worked out. The VW has a fairly substantial heating system to bring the battery up to temp on cool days. I'm not entirely clear on its workings in our present, pre-scheduling state, and maybe I'm unaware of something it's doing now, but I get the distinction there's more to come.
