So this is strange, here's what my non-lighted one looks like from behind:

View attachment 2855

The illuminated LED bars extend all the way behind the badge. In javi_ID4's pic, the badge itself seems to have connectors in that location. Partslink24 shows the left and right decorative mouldings (11A 853 583 and 11A 853 584 ) grayed out for this VIN: WVGKMPE28MP024586

I wonder if this includes both the illuminated badge as well as the illuminated "grille" strips?

I thought that those two boxes were radar transponders of some sort.

Wish they would retro fit FE for free. We were the first suckers. LoL
My wife's Pacifica was supposed to come with foot operated door openers. Since they weren't available they didn't charge her for the $195 option.
About 4 months later they became available. The wiring was already installed. But out of the parts department it would now cost $600.
She uses the key fob.

I've ordered Jetta emblems from China. Parts were fine but they took a longish time to arrive. I've also ordered parts from Riverside VW, Riverside, CA.

Did you decide whether to try to purchase this part? If it's a very simple install I may try it... My wife will think I'm a madman for doing it though
I'm waiting for someone else to install it. I'm thinking that it's not just splicing a wire from an existing led strip but requires a control module and vag-com reprogram.

The badge part number is 11A-853-600-A-AWA

I did a spread sheet calculating both price and shipping from different websites. You may want to spend time to do the same so you can find the best price.

Last night I was looking for the "4F0-973-702" - that's the connector used for the light bar (at least on one side - the side that was up when I stuck my head in there), but I figure they are the same.

The basic housing is somewhat available if you search around. But I am not yet finding the the part number for the mating connector. I am still thinking of a Y-shaped dongle to power the thing, which would make installation a breeze.

I did find this page:

That has links for mating connectors, but I have not yet found an e-store that sells them.
Do you think that that connector is unique to the ID4? Is it available out of the dealership parts department at a reasonable cost? What about going to a body shop and asking if they could get you 1 or 2 as needed?
Suppose an audio installation shop could hook you up (pun intended)? There has to be a way to get them inexpensively for self-installation.
What an opportunity for an entrepreneur to sell a limited number, say 50-100, of installation kits. Pent up FE owners are starving for a reasonably inexpensive solution.
I yearn for days of past, when you could simply tap into an existing wire or install a Bosch toggle switch. Those EEs (I'm one) really screwed things up 😖.
