I have a 2021 ID.4 FE and now live in Minnesota. I am buying winter tires for the first time and would like to get 235/60 18” Michelin X-Ice Snow. I am having a hard time finding 18” wheels that would fit. Other threads in this site recommended American Eagle AE900, but I guess they went out of business…I cannot find them anywhere.

I was hoping that any 18x8 wheel would fit, but a Discount Tire employee in my town said that only a few 18x8 wheels might work (depending on the design) and, once I buy a set, I cannot return them because Tire Rack only recommends 19” and 20” for the ID.4.

I really do not care about appearance. I only care about cost and weight (to help mitigate some range loss from the winter tires). I see some wheels that are about $100 each on Tire Rack, but I don’t know if they would fit. The links are below. Look at the wheels offered with TireRack's Winter Wheel and tire packages. They list 18" wheels there.

Edit: I just looked again and TireRack does list 58 18" wheel options even when just searching for wheels.

Buy Audi rims and check the offset so it is close. I have done that four times with different types of Audi rims without issue on Craigslist for ID.4s

Wow, prices have skyrocketed & selection dropped from a year ago.
I bought by tire+wheel set from Tirerack a year ago.
AE900 18" wheels and Yoko IceGuard tires (the cheapest I could find). $1321 to the door. With a small rebate too!
Looking now, ouch!
I am guessing a lot of people have not realized how much wheels and tires have gone up.
I didn't.

You're welcome. It would be tough to find brand-name 18" dia. wheels that sell for $100 ea. But you never know, I've seen close-end sales for $150 ea. at TireRack.
I suggest you check Craiglist for a set of used 18" VW or Audi aluminum wheels.

Is it safe to assume that any 18x8 VW or Audi wheels with a 5-112 bolt pattern will work or is it still trial-and-error to see which ones fit? I found some on Ebay that are more affordable, but still don’t know for sure if they would fit.

I picked up some used 18" aftermarket Sport Edition wheels that came with lightly used blizzaks for under $500. I drove them all winter in Buffalo last year and it was an astounding difference in traction vs the OEM FE setup. They came off an Audi Q5 specifically and didn't require any additional parts, so its possible to find a match. We don't use Kijiji in the US- Craigslist and unfortunately FB marketplace dominate here.

Took some patience using different search strings but got a set relatively quickly. I had read somewhere that the Q5 was a likely fit, so I specifically focused on that in my searches. I can't speak to whether all aftermarket Q5 wheels work or whether OEM Q5 wheels would require adapters or not, though a few forum comments discuss the Q5 and mentioned a possible need for likely inexpensive hub centric rings.

Your Costco installed the same size tire front and back? They won't do that over here. The EV Guy is correct regarding my local Costco. They wouldn't install anything other than what's on the car's tire placard. And that calls for the asymmetrical arrangement. The tires you bought are smaller...

This is true. Not a big deal, just buy a set of hub centric rings and you are good to go.

The key parameter beside the size and bolt pattern is the offset. You can destroy things if offset is not correct.

They are 7.5" wide but according to tiresize.com, the tires can fit 6.5" to 8.5" wheels. You can see from the web site that the wheel is compatible with several Audi and VW models.

The low range version is a bit lighter, so the load rating might not be applicable to 77kWh cars.

I’m on The same quest. TIRE RACK rep on the phone just recommended 18” wheels by A8-2, at $197.80 each, along with Cooper Evolution Winter tires, ( the only option available with Studs, at my request.)
I read in an online forum that the 18” wheel may have issues with the brakes on the ID4. Why is this so difficult? Sounds like Tire Rack has differing advice, depending on the sales rep?
