Maybe getting into a technical analysis would be better left to another day, and just stick with:My guess from the picture is, there are deep-cycle 12V batteries (10?) on the floating dock at the bottom right of the tree, a DC-AC converter, and a solar panel at the top left to charge them.

I think you'll find that conventional mains-powered LED holiday light strings will only light half the string when run on DC (and the other half of the string when run on DC of the opposite polarity).Yes I can see what you are talking about.
