Hi Folks,

Due to changing circumstances I have decided to sell my ID.4. It has been wonderful, and I currently have a little less than 4,000 miles on it. It is in the Chicago area (West suburbs), and the car is in excellent condition. I even put paint protection film on the drivers door sill area to protect from scrapes entering and exiting the vehicle and to protect from salt, etc. In addition to the fully spec'd trim, I will include the following:

• Muddy buddy floor liners (front, back, trunk area)
• HomeLink mirror with Navigation (needed for garage door funcitons)
• TeslaTap 60A with a case (not pictured)
• Screen Protection for touch screen and gauge cluster.
• Hard-wired and cleanly installed front-facing dash cam (Vantrue X1)

I have the title. I don't typically do private sales of cars, and if I don't get a compelling offer here I will just take what I get from Carvana or Vroom, or a local dealership, after my new car arrives. But since this community has been so great, I want to give you all first option before I strip all the extra stuff and sell it all separately. I'll try to respond to inquiries within 24 hours.

Oh yeah, I also have some touch-up paint that I'd include. I really went overboard on the accessories LOL.

That's a ballpark near MSRP - I'll take reasonable offers. The forum doesn't give you many options for listing a price, but I am not going to do a private party sale for less than a dealership would pay me, either.

I do understand...I'm not judging you....but you will get better deals with online companies like Caravana or Vroom....

I agree. $48K would very nearly get anybody a new 2022 (wouldn't it?) and then the $7.5K Federal rebate would lower that to near $40K and then the 3 years free charging which isn't transferable - Not a bargain, IMO. I wish you all the luck in the world selling it here, but I would think trading it in for whatever new car you're buying now, or . . . . Carvana - They have been paying insane amounts for used cars here lately, so you never know . . . . you might get something near your $48K

MSRP/Retail $49,370.00
Selling Price $49,370.00
Accessories $548.00
Government Fees $326.00
Proc/Doc Fees $303.60
Subtotal (Selling Price + Addons) $50,547.60
IL State Tax (2020) $3,140.41
RTA Tax $376.85
Total Balance Due $54,064.86 --> this is the exact amount I paid.

I spent another ~$1,000 in accessories. I did claim the tax credit in 2021, so subtract $7,500. I've owned the car for four months and put a little less than 4,000 miles on the car, mostly highway and always in a garage. Actually never did a single full fast charge after I tested out the Electrify America setup.

So a roughly $48k asking price isn't crazy high given the used car market. Y'all don't have to buy it if you don't want it. But if this feels like a good option to you and you have a reasonable offer, give me a shout. I hope to get a deal done around the end of this month.

When talking car prices we are used to the pricing before fees and taxes (and god forbid "market adjustments") which (arguably) are just "cost of doing business of buying cars." You are subtracting $7500 from out the door price, so basically you want your buyer to pay your sales tax and fees (and then they will pay another set of their own sales tax and fees on top of that). Well that is the "rationale" anyways, I understand the used car market is crazy (and therefore all rationales out the window) so I hope it will work out for you. Best of luck

You are subtracting $7500 from out the door price, so basically you want your buyer to pay your sales tax and fees (and then they will pay another set of their own sales tax and fees on top of that). Well, thanks to the EV tax credit, the value of a new ID.4 is effectively MSRP minus tax credit (for people who qualify, not everyone qualify so maybe enticing for some). So taking your MSRP new $49,370 (in which you had claimed your $7500 tax credit) the value should be $41,870 (ignoring crazy used car market). But again there is nothing wrong with taking advantage of the market and selling it high. I would do the same if I am selling (actually I contemplated about it from time to time 😁 Unfortunately, I love my ID.4 😁 ).

One also has to consider that it may take 6+ months to get a new car if you place an order today. So many folks are willing to pay more for the ability to get one right now. And if they are also profiting on selling their current vehicle, then spending a bit more on the replacement isn't such a bitter pill to swallow.

A price isn't all that crazy if someone is willing to pay it, and that's more true than ever right now. While many of us might pass on something like this, all it takes is one who thinks it's an acceptable deal for any number of reasons.

Exactly. What anything is worth in dollars at any point in time isn’t the asking price, but what someone is willing to pay.

I guarantee you will get it! We ordered a Model Y early last year and sold it to carmax with 800 miles on it for $7K more than we paid…. Used cars prices are crazy and it ain’t getting better!

I ran my AWD ProS with Gradient (3400 miles) through Vroom and Carvana and they came both came back around 44,500. Was a bit surprised the number wasn’t higher given the crazy gas prices. We’re seriously considering selling the house and going RV full timing so the ID.4 would be the odd man out since our ICE vehicle will be the most logical choice in that role. Crazy times for making car choices.

Note also that the AWD is so new and rare that some of the online places don’t differentiate between it and the RWD models. Buyer beware AND seller beware in today’s insane market. With the spiking gas prices, a lot of people will have had enough in coming weeks. Great time to find that new remote-work job!
