I had to back in sideways to reach the only operational charger (out of 4). There was a Bolt waiting my last 5 minutes. View attachment 6150
Nothing out of ordinary Porsche owners park like this most of the time to have successfull shake and charging.....charging port on Porsche doesn't like stiff charging cables when is cold.

It wasn't awkward but the first and only time my local EA station was full. I always enjoy talking to other EV owners and sharing experiences. View attachment 6165
It is simply uncanny how many people (non-EV owners, presumably) come up to me while I am charging the ID.4 at an EA station.

When Walmart (presumably, since the EA stations are usually at Walmart in the Dallas area) shoppers hear the ID.4 external sound, they are seemingly attracted to it like moths to a flame. People stop walking towards the Walmart store entrance and detour my way.

I was at a Home Depot yesterday right around closing time and a couple pulled up in their car to pick my brain about the ID.4 while I was putting a few house plants in the back. :p

When my wife and I were staying at an Airbnb cabin, I was charging at the Mt. Pleasant, TX EA station during the dead of the night and a fuel truck driver (filling up the nearby gas station) came up to me and starting asking about it while I was charging.

Really exciting for the future of electric vehicles.

Sincerely,

Adam J. Cook

When I drive in a 25 mph zone, I usually go 19 mph and observe the heads turning. That almost always brings a smile to my face 😊.

I think it was simply to maintain the Tiguan and other VW AG ICE passenger-rear (right rear) form factor locale. Nothing more complex than that. 🤷‍♂️ All of my prior Audi's were right-rear.
[note however that the original Audi eTron A3 avant was front and center behind the rings.]
I think to more resemble the Honda, Toyota, Mazda... compact ICE SUVs 🤔.
Can someone tell me why they put the charging ports in the back instead of at the front of the car? My ELR had it in the front and seemed to make more sense.

I find it is unusual to have a charging session where someone isn't around asking questions. Truckers driving 18 wheelers have been literally half of the conversations I've had while charging. Reliably the first two questions are: How long does it take to charge and how far can it go on a charge? I love answering all the questions and meeting new people with my conversation-starting car.

Although I don't DCFC anywhere near many here every time I have I've found myself to be in the role of a "VW ID Ambassador." I try my best to be a good one. And yes, the first and 2nd questions are always range and charge time. But I especially like the "how much does it cost to charge?" and watch their response when I reply "actually, it's free." ;)
