Car-Net and my ID.4 won't talk to each other. They did. They stopped. Friday was the last update.
I was confused, so I thought maybe I should delete the app and try downloading it again. No improvement.
What's the point? I'm not sure. Yes, it was nice being able to check on the car from my phone, but really... if you've read the Apple Store's app description, the app with the ID4 doesn't unlock the car or lock it. I'm not sure what else it doesn't do, but I'm not sure it's worth the bother.

If VW fixes this and increases the utility, they might have something. As is? Not so much. It's little more than a add for add-on services.

Actually today I finally got CarNet to work. You have to scan that QR code that comes up in the set up menu. So far the only thing that I know that it does is display the estimated range on the phone. I would like to be able to use it to pre air condition or pre heat the car.

Yes, my car net worked very nicely. Even without that. Not now. I'm willing to try your approach, but that shouldn't be necessary.

I had a brief hiccup right around the time I received notification the hotspot service expired. But I was also in the system farting around with settings, and Android Auto also stopped working around the same time. That was maybe 2 weeks in to ownership. I reset the infotainment via the menu option, re-paired the phones, went through Car-Net log-on again, and everything's been flawless since. I don't know ultimately if it was me (probably) or the hotspot (maybe but probably not), but try a system reset if you haven't already.

Please be reminded that many of us lost Car-Net service at the 30-day post delivery due to a computer timing glitch on their end (turning off Hotspot if not re-up'd, but should not have turned off all services). Call them and provide your VIN and they'll get it resolved within 48 hours in most cases.

Just to share my experience with this. My ID4 stopped talking to carnet on 07/08/21. I’ve been busy with some vacation stuff and haven’t put much into dealing with it. I called them today to have it addressed and they gave me the same 5-10 day wait.

They did however recommend a dealer service to have it dealt with immediately, but right now that’s a little inconvenient. I’m going to let it cook for now. I will update the timeline if it does return without having to bring it in.

Yeah... they're fixing these things faster than they advertise. I had 2 outtages: First took 5 days, and the 2nd maybe a day. Everyday that goes by, I think they're debugging this thing.

Just for the record - I have the same problem. Car-Net and the car are frozen on a past date. The signal strength bars that usually show on the Infotainment screen, upper left corner, are missing. Called VW at the phone number you posted above and they opened a ticket for their IT Dept. When you call they will ask for the last 7 numbers of your VIN and confirm your name and phone number.
If VW is checking this forum, I want them to know how many owners have a disconnect between their Car-Net app and the car. As limited as Car-Net is I feel it's important they know what we are experiencing. Maybe it will help VW develop the next App version.

So it appears the same Car-Net server glitch since I posted six months ago (canceling all services if Hotspot not further contracted after intro period). One would think given the volume of calls/cases they've had to field to date they would have resolved by now. Apparently they don't feel it's important and are also not too concerned with App improvement. 😣

Just go my car for 2 weeks, and it started to do the same. It starts online but quickly disconnects offline. Message says the eSim is not not available (or something like that). It’s winter here in Quebec and I would love to have the pre-heating function from the app.

OK, I've had my car for 6 months & have never (ok, maybe in the first week) used CarNet. What are y'all using it for? Set the temp in the car? I just don't need to do that. What else?

In my case to cross-check my ChargePoint App re: SOC.

Also to pre-warm the cabin in Winter (just as a luxury given garaged). But the App communication-to-action is slow so often I forget to do so sufficiently in advance and a number of times get a "..please try later" which is particularly frustrating when I do remember.

I've never used it to find an EVSE as there are far better App's for that.

Soooo.... otherwise nothing as it has next to nothing to offer. :(

I use it frequently to climatize the cabin and to check state of charge, but also a few times as a workaround for the broken scheduled charging. My low tier electricity rate window begins at midnight, so I've plugged the ID.4 in, used Car-Net to stop charging, then set an alarm and used Car-Net to restart charging after midnight.
