My experience with dreaded “Electrical System Fault”Message

ID4 First edition. 12,000 miles. We had the “electrical system failure” message. Our car died at a stoplight.
We called my dealer. I was an hour away from them. They sent a truck to pick me and the car up. They had a loaner ready to go when we got to the dealer. Turned out it needed an on board charger it took about a week to get the part in. They kept us informed the whole time. Great communication!
Couldn’t have been a better experience!! Kinda glad it happened actually. It’s easy for the dealer to talk a good game when you are buying a car. It is a whole different thing when you get to see them do what they promise!! It has been 4000 miles since the repair and no problems! I intentionally waited so I could give a report after I was sure it was fixed.
If you want to be treated like a person, see them.

Sounds like that dealer did everything we all WISHED dealerships did. Good for them.

Thanks for posting this. Please consider posting your experience getting a loaner on this thread.
I just had my 3rd experience with it but none have sent me to the dealer. The first two happened shortly after purchase in July. Shutting down and then coming back to the vehicle resolved it both times. This time was different. I was visiting my parents and had just unplugged from their house. The red lights came on and the car would not operate. I panicked a bit being far from home and dreading having to deal with this. I shut it down with the on/off, started again, and it worked again. Thankful since I had a 400 mile trip ahead of me. Having a checkup at the dealer tomorrow.
I got this message over the weekend. I took the day off work and took the car in. I am informed that in my case it was because of air pockets in the cooling system. They have fixed it
I got the electrical system failure message. No amount of fiddling got the problem to reset. Ended up being towed to the dealership. The next morning the service guys had the same problem. None of the usual fixes solved the situation. They opened a ticket with VW and were told to replace the AC/DC converter. (IMHO that won't help but it's VW's dime so go ahead and replace it.) I have had zero problems for 15 months (21K miles). Disappointed. In the shop day 3.
