Okay, this situation has become absolutely ridiculous.

For those new to the saga, here it is in short:

Placed order for AWD Pro S Plus on July 21. Assumed I'd get the car this spring which would be perfect. The order Locked on October 15th. Last month real movement started: to Factory Approved on February 17 and Scheduled for Production just four days later. Estimated delivery- March to May, 2023.

Then the proverbial poop hit the fan.

On February 28th, the order went back to Locked, the next day back to Scheduled for Production, and on March 4th, back to Locked where it has remained until tonight. The commission number for the order also disappeared. When I checked with my dealer that old commission number showed a different car to a different dealer. Also, my original Reserved date changed from July 21 to September 22.

I just checked my status and to say the least I am NOT HAPPY.

The order has moved status 05: Order Generated.. and the delivery window now says JULY to DECEMBER 2023!!!!

I'm speechless. I just popped a letter in the mail yesterday to Pablo Di Si (I'm a believer in going directly to the top) asking for information about the Pro S Plus models. I wish I had waited a day. The letter might not have been as polite.

Meanwhile, the lease on my 2020 Tiguan ends on May 20th. It looks like I'm going to need to extend that lease or buy it out. Of course, another option is just cancel the ID.4 and get another Tiguan. It certainly will be a lot cheaper. All I know is I am truly furious about this whole situation. If all of this is being caused by the aerial view on the camera, then just toss that feature for now. Get me my damned car and update the software when it's complete. Beyond all that, VW take at least a couple thousand off the price of the Pro S Plus..or pay for my Tiguan lease extension until the Pro S Plus FINALLY comes off the assembly line.

(@Plant Peon Any inside info as to what the problem is with this trim line?)

Same here. Moved to May-December 2023 ETA. It is so frustrating that we have not received one email regarding this. And they definitely aren't communicating this info with customer care or the dealers. I'm hoping I will wake up tomorrow and it will change back, but somehow I doubt that.

My situation is I have a 2009 Toyota, valued at $2500 for trade-in, that needs $4500 worth of work (steering rack, front brakes, needs evaporator replaced, axle boot leaking grease). So I guess it's time to start considering plan B.

The Plus trim definitely isn't worth this much waiting, especially if they don't add premium audio back. Just get a Pro S.

I could care less about the sound. I need the aerial view camera and the auto folding mirrors. (I know the Pro S has manual folding mirrors, but I'll forget and I lose one on a NYC street to a car or truck that comes too close. (Like the truck that put a nice dent in my Tiguan front quarter panel last year. If the mirror wasn't folded in, that would've been gone too.)

midsize SUV for NYC? hardcore. The mirror folding isn't an issue, as you'd walk by the mirror anyway. Takes 3 seconds. the sensors are REALLY good on this car so the prime advantage of AreaView is just faster parking, which does make sense for NYC.

While I live in one of the outer boroughs, I work in Manhattan and on weekends I do drive in. (Never during the week.). Parking can be an art form as you shoehorn your car into a space about four inches longer than the car. Cameras are heaven sent.

In getting back to original poster's concern - he is getting the royal fuckery from VW. He is having to settle..... settle for no features like 360 cam, or like some of us in Canada, no VW audio, no heat pump, no folding mirrors etc etc.... If you don't want to settle for a featureless car, then your car might never see your driveway. Meanwhile these clowns think it's a great idea to increase the prices mid year (Canada +$2500 on April 1st) and then again for the 2024 model year. In addition, competition is lowering prices. For us in Canada, its become a complete joke. You think USA has it bad? 😂

"Hang in there" or "Good luck" are def encouraging, but don't remedy the major fumble that NYC362 is experiencing.

You could always pick up an Audi Q4, as they have the 360 cameras and are appearing on dealer lots - and they’re now doing the tax credit towards the lease cap cost reduction like VW. (I suspect the delay on the Plus trim is due to an issue getting necessary parts to Tennessee for something Plus-specific. Audi is made in Germany with different suppliers.)

Right, and there goes the Federal Tax Credit and almost certainly a higher car insurance bill.

Thank you.

When someone orders something from one of the world's largest companies, one has an expectation of getting what they wanted. I should not have to compromise any more. I already have- on the cost, on equipment (while the sound system doesn't mean much to me, it was downgraded), and so on.

The total lack of communication from Volkswagen is infuriating and inexcusable.

I'm glad I abandoned my RWD Plus reservation. Reserved in AUgust, It was approved for production on Dec27th a few days after I got an AWD Pro S off the lot.
I was disappointed because I'd be getting 300mi ranges on the RWD and its turn radius is out of this world.
You sound like someone who really needs area view...I think I'd just ship in your situation.

So this morning's episode of "Where is my ID.4?" still shows a status of 05- Order Generated, but the delivery window is back to March to May from July to December.

Seriously, if VW would just keep us informed, this wouldn't be such a shitshow.

I waited 6 months for a Plus trim. Got tired of the VW games and no communication. Went out and purchased an AWD Pro S last month, and really like it. No way was I going to miss out on the $7500.00 tax credit. Piss poor way to run a car company.

Yep, same here. 05 March-May this morning. Sometimes I think seeing the detail in the Chrome extension is not good for our health because whoever is updating the systems in TN seems to be very confused. Why move us all back to 03 when an issue was discovered? Why not just keep us at the current number until you figure out what is going on and then communicate it to your customers?

As someone who works in marketing on a daily basis, I would love to give VW some advice on how to communicate with customers, even if it is bad news. Avoiding communication only makes things worse.
