Has anyone had any problems with the VW app connecting to, or working with, the id.4? I have the app installed on both my Samsung phone and my iPad. There are times when I try to turn off the charging before heading out to the car and the ‘wheel’ just spins and spins and never connects. Other times, it doesn’t even try and simply gives me the data from an old charge session. The climate control works just fine, albeit very slowly sometimes, but not the charging connection. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app several times on both devices but doesn’t seem to make a difference.

It’s a widely known problem the app doesn’t update properly. Mine hasn’t updated since yesterday and shows the door opened lights on and unlocked or the opposite.

Works fine for me to:
  • View the charge level (ignore estimated miles)
  • Start the pre-heating/battery conditioning (ignore the spinning icons)

Would I like it to do more, better? Sure, but I'm just happy it does what it does.

I’ve had my ID.4 for 14 months. The VW app has behaved poorly and frozen on several occasions. Usually reconnecting if I’m in the car and open the app. However, my app has been frozen for three days now, and NOTHING that I’ve tried has worked. It’s currently unusable.

We all have our My VW app problems, it seems. After a three-day struggle (Old People Computing), my wife finally got the My VW app working on our new AWD Pro, with her as Primary User.

Out of the blue, VW texts to Welcome me to My VW, with a URL to Get Started, download the mobile app etc. Which I do, and then I go sit in the car and walk through the installation, but it stalls, asking me to scan a QR code that never appears. And so I give up, thinking I'll try this another day as anger-management mitigation.

Meanwhile, back in the house, my wife has been watching me open doors and such on her My VW app, and then it quits. And sends ME a verification code to set PIN. And then it sends me another one, with a different Code. And then it sends my wife the same messages--we have different phone numbers; we have different email addresses. And she keys in the codes, but it won't accept them, and then . . .

Her My VW no longer works. All the information she had set up has vanished.

Anyone else suffer this?

Is it possible for two people sharing one car to both have active My VW accounts? Or am I better just bagging it and lurking hereafter as Guest while she attempts to restore her Bona Fides (nod to O Brother Where Art Thou) with the obtuse VW computers?

Yes, we've most all had our myVW issues. :(

Since my troubleshooting of most any such problem first involves reducing variables, and sometimes remaining variable-reduced for better reliability, I would say yes "better just bagging it and lurking hereafter as Guest while she attempts to restore her Bona Fides" (good nod).

Thanks. I'll henceforth lurk in the shadows and won't feel I'm missing anything beyond such arcane knowledge as doors opening when and where.

Somewhat related - since upgrading my garage door openers to a more commercial variant Liftmaster I now get an App-alert on my iPhone every time the door(s) opens/closes. Do I really need this knowledge? :ROFLMAO:

At least that won't become a new information-age irritant: No Garage, No Garage Door Opener.

I have the same question about having two drivers registered with the car, which apparently means registered through the App. My wife has the App and is registered as primary driver. Great. However, when I sit in the car, it tries to adjust the seat to my wife's settings which leads to issues (I am 6' 9" and she is about half that; we need different settings...). So she added me as a secondary driver, put in my name and my email, and I was supposed to get an invitation to download the app and set up an account. Instead, my wife got an invitation to do this at her email address, which doesn't make any sense. She forwarded the invite to me, I downloaded the app, set up an account, and can ow see my wife registered as primary driver, and herself again as secondary driver. No way to edit the name or details for the secondary driver, either on the app, in the car or on the website. What a lousy piece of @#$%*& software. Unbelievable this was released as final...

We dodged the same situation by me just logging in as Guest. The only hitch: After 50 years of marriage, she's decided that's a better name than the one my parents chose.

Connectivity issues can often arise due to poor network connectivity. If you are in an area with weak network coverage, this could be the root cause of the app's connectivity issues. Another potential cause of these issues could be related to the app's settings or configuration. You might try going through the app's settings and verifying that everything is set up correctly. Thanks to such companies as Document Scanning and OCR SDK for Apps & Web – Smart Engines applications are very developed today, so it is important to configure everything you need correctly.

Also try the automations, for some reason they seem to be working better for me than the app directly. Which makes no sense.
