So this just happened... Was not even 2 blocks from my house. Had taken the time for my FE to power up in my driveway by stepping on the brake (actually pre-heated to the time, so the cabin was warmed). Had taken the time to also deactivate lane side assist AND also turn on Air Care. All this before putting the car in reverse. Headlights on Auto, but were OFF, only daytime white lights were on in front.
I turned into a side street where the sun (solar glare) was full on into my eyes. Immediately the car threw (2) Error Codes: Check Left Low Beam AND Error Dynamic Cornering Light. On the steering wheel monitor was a yellow light icon. I drive up the incline to the next intersection (which was shaded) & the auto headlights turned on. Again, an alarm bell & (2 ) Error Codes chime out.
I went to get my kid at the high school. When I got there. Driver Side headlight is out.
So I got back home & I look up the threads about Dynamic Cornering Light Errors. However, there is nothing on the forum about the Check Left Low Beam. & There is nothing about these combined errors having happen simultaneously.
I did read about going & clicking Dynamic Corning Lights OFF to reset it. So when I went out to do such, I powered the car back up. It is dark in my driveway at 3:30 PM as we are on a north facing hillside. So the headlights on Auto immediately turned on the lights. And the Error Code seems to have reset.
My theory on the cause is the camera on the windshield. This is not the first occasion where solar glare has blinded that camera & lane assist has errored/ timed out & the Cruise Control with Travel Assist & Lane Assist has deactivated. It is ALWAYS when the car is driving INTO the sunset. Strong Solar Glare. Like the kind that causes car accidents on Rt. 2 or I-90 Eastbound toward Boston in the morning & Westbound in the Evening in the Fall.
Before the admins click "resolved" hold on. I have yet to go drive the car again. Also curious to see if anyone else has experienced this. By the way, I just called my local VW to see if they can see if it has thrown a code & they are sadly booked out until December 13th for service. And my other local (but not local at 45 miles away) VW Service Dept went to the Managers VM... So @ VW Technician, yeah: I'll just have it checked out conveniently...
