Earlier today I saw a similar black one with the AZ plates (might be the same one) at a EA charging station at a Walmart parking lot in San Diego. I was in the area and thought of checking out the EA chargers and lo and behold I see an ID4 charging there!

I wonder if the one I saw yesterday in Phoenix drove to you in San Diego?

Very likely. I met the lady who was driving the car. She works for vw and said she was testing the car doing extensive driving. She mentioned Phoenix as one of the places she drove through. She said the car drives pretty well and she was getting about 190+ miles of freeway range at 80mph speeds with the ac on.

Kearny mesa vw. I might try switching to mossy vw escondido since they are one of the dealerships pre-approved for deduction the state rebate at time of purchase.
Yes, bought my e-golf (great price) from mossy. Kearny Mesa was asking way too much

I wonder if this is part of the testing for the EPA range?
In this article it says the epa tests are done on some kind of 'treadmill
