I'm in DC but spend a could chunk of my time in VA, so leaning toward selecting a VA dealer over MD. I received the lock order email today. Are there major differences in local dealers that I should keep in mind? Alexandra is closest but I did my test drive at Lindsay.

I have my AWD with Alexandria VW, DC resident also and went with them as the closest. I don’t have any other experience with them and would like to hear others’ experience in the DC area too. Especially cost of documents and added on costs.

Thanks, Steve. I'm going w/ same short of another good way to pick a dealer. I'd love to hear what the dealer charges for documentation since we don't have to pay an excise tax on BEVs in DC, which means first year title and registration should be $36 (EV 1st yr. registration) + $26 (title) + $10 (inspection). There's an extra $20 for lien recordation, if needed, and whatever the parking permit fee is, if needed.

Wondering what other fees, other than the destination charge, might also get tacked on. Looks like you'll be taking delivery on your AWD soon? If so, that's exciting!

I recommend Lindsay. Have bought a TDI, a GTI, and have my ID4 order with them. It is farther for me than Alexandria, Springfield, Stohlman, and Fairfax, but I have been very pleased with their sales and service. A perhaps significant data point is that VWoA is nearby and Lindsay services all their vehicles, which implies that their service department should be well-trained.

I second the recommendation for Lindsay - and for every reason NOVA49 said. It's probably 15 miles further than my closest VW dealer and I'm still going with Lindsay.

I read some of the comments about the dealer shenanigans. It caused me to touch base with Lindsay and I was assured that there would not be additional fees than the "standard fees" associated with a car purchase.

Congrats! RWD or AWD? I got the Kings red too!!!
AWD, although I think it may be overkill. But my last 4 cars have been AWD wagons and the last mile of my main regular destination is up a steep gravel road that occasionally washes out or you have to pull off to let a truck and trailer pass. That, range, cargo space, and ground clearance is what finally convinced me I could go electric.

there are multiple threads about dealer shenanigans on this site. if you try searching for the name of the dealership in the search box you will probably find some users experiences with them.
Thank you! I had read through that entire thread and saw the comments. Really educational thread all the way through... as someone who has never purchased from a dealer before. I do plan on showing up prepared.

I am about to move to the Exmore area on the DelMarva peninsula. The closest VW dealers to me are in the Norfolk area.
Does anybody have any feedback on either of the two dealers in the area? Checkered Flag or Southern VW Greenbrier

I LOVED Stohlman VW in Tysons Corner. I have purchased 2 Beetle’s in the past from them and I would recommend them in a heart beat!

I recently leased a Dust Blue Pro S from Stohlman VW and had a good experience. Got a couple of extra perks and quick support from management when needed. Just make sure you leave with the Electrify America app properly set to the ID4 Premium plan :)
I purchased 2 beetles from Stohlman in the past when I lived in VA, and I can’t say enough good about them! Excellent customer service. Having said that, I am getting ready to order an iD4 here in Las Vegas, and just pray I get the same quality of service here that I received at Stohlman.
