Does the load rating needs to be at least 105 front and 107 back?
Good call! The factory 19" tires are 105/107. 20" are 104/105. The Cooper 103T tires for example, have a max weight rating of 1929lbs each, putting them within the gross axle ratings of the ID.4. But for those who want the XL load rating, the Falken or the Hankook would be great choices as well, they are 107T XL.

Per Tire Rack: "If your car comes with an XL tire, it is recommended to stick with XL options. However, standard load tires can still be used provided they meet the vehicle's GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating) requirements. The vehicle's placard, usually located in the driver's doorjamb, lists the front and rear GAWR. With two tires per axle, the tire load rating must be at least half of the GAWR. The vehicle placard will also list the service description of the original tires."

GAWR F: 2535lbs - 1267lbs per tire
GAWR R: 3373lbs - 1686lbs per tire

Can you update options with metal wheels and no hub centric rings in the mix.
Im originally from Germany and have ID.4 in US also ....i prefer metal wheels for the winter.
I think this would be cool. Spent some time searching and I found one 18x7.5 5x112 57.1mm wheel that would potentially work, but it's in Canada and would be priced considerably higher than what I can get the alloy wheels for... :( If you know of any within the US, shoot me a PM. Right now it doesn't look like I can get any steel wheels for this car from any of my distributors.

Never owning a car with staggered wheels before is it normal to have a set of winter wheels the same width front and back?

Also, I am assuming your recommended tire set would work with the up and coming AWD model just fine.
Yup - it's very typical to square out the staggered setups for winter. Allows you to rotate the snows each season, and slightly narrower tires are always a good thing due to their ability to "cut" through snow better.

This 18" setup is good to go for all ID.4 models as US versions all use the same brakes. Depending on the time I may be able to do Oneonta pickup (Brooks BBQ is always worth it) but with a new baby it's hard to say.

99% sure there is no way a 17” will work on an AWD. Agree with Jimmy. 18” is close. I’m going to order my set today and do a test fit some time this week to see just how close it is.

EDIT: Added pics of the actual tires to the first post.

Wheels will be here tomorrow. I’ll try to roll the ID.4 off my ramps (still deer damaged) and test fit. I have an FE, so it should already have the bigger brakes. TR doesn’t usually list wheels that won’t fit but it will be good to confirm with photos.

Edit: All US ID.4 rotors are the same and these are confirmed to fit now.

well that’s the fuzzy part. The 77KW has bigger brakes than the smaller battery brothers, but the media keeps mentioning that the AWD has even bigger rotors. This would also be the reason apparently, why the AWD is allowed to pull more weight than the RWD.

I’m really curious to see if that’s just marketing fuzz or if there is really truth to that statement
I just referenced parts.vw.com in another thread and all models are showing the same front brakes in the USA. (RWD and AWD) I suspect this is the case...

Got the wheels in. Perfect fit, same as the other member that tried 18s on his Pro. Made in the USA, too, surprisingly! Happy to report these will fit on all US ID.4s, RWD and AWD.

Nice! Also the EA in Binghamton looks to be open as of today! PlugShare - Find Electric Vehicle Charging Locations Near You

Free EA charging for any of your ID.4 customers. 😬
Finally!! Just went and tested it out and talked to an i3 owner. :)

A set of Hankooks are ready to go! I chose these for my RWD because I need all-out snow traction for my backroads commute - noise and efficiency be damned. I believe these and the Cooper Evos will be the best in unplowed deep snow, while the others will excel in ice and hard-packed snow.

I currently have those same Hankook tires on my Jeep grand cherokee for the last 2 winters and they are great in the snow both hard packed and deep, and great on crazy CO 4wd offroading. They are very loud and will that will be more noticeable on an ID.4.
Yeah, it’ll be interesting to see how they fare on an EV. Do you think the ID.4 is a little bit better insulated than the Jeep? I’m holding on to that hope… :)

I went from an deep-tread tire like this (General Altimax) to the Michelin X-ice on my old Tesla, and while the snow performance noticeably decreased, everything else was a little better. (Noise, efficiency)

Nice find. I’m definitely open to any wheel on there!

I was also thinking about efficiency/range improvements by keeping the 18s on next spring and running an efficient all-season tire. Even with the American Eagle wheels, the assembly is still lighter than the 20s. A lightweight 18” like the Enkei can only make it better. It looks very similar. Curious if the AE wheels are slightly stronger due to their weight.

I can offer larger combo discounts on the tires in post #1. However, other tire options still allow me to beat Tire Rack's $80 pickup discount. If you'd rather not drive to Delaware or Connecticut to save money picking up your winter set, maybe I'm closer? :)

Tire Wheel Automotive tire Tread Synthetic rubber

My price: $1515.00 + tax

I've also been considering selling the mounted Hankook set as a "floor model" for an even greater discount to clear out some space and kick off the first sale. $1075.00 + tax, one time only. :) The black AE900s just went up in price by ~$10 a wheel, so this will be an unusually low price for a while. Pending sale 10/23

Not so convenient to Boston, but I do appreciate all the information as I plan my snow tire purchase
If you're ever willing to trek out to Oneonta maybe I could be swayed... :) Glad this thread has been useful.

The ID.4 in Europe has non-staggered fitments, as long as the overall diameter is the same as the stock staggered set (it is with 235/60-18) then the car is none the wiser. No need for any camera re-cal.

Buffalo is a bit of a hike for me right now, I don't think I could swing it - too busy with the tire gig every weekend and a baby. Sorry - if you can make it within an hour of Binghamton I could probably make something work.

After you fitted the 18s, are you confident the 17s won't fit? I also have some 17 inch snow tires from my old A4.
Not a chance with 17s. 18s have very tight clearance between the caliper and wheel weights.

Are you still offering these tire/wheel packages? Are you able to source Nokian WR G4 tires?
I am! And I can get those Nokians at a slight discount - just checked 235/60R18 (for example) and that is available to me, I'd just need to contact my supplier for a firm price. I can get a detailed quote in whatever size you'd like - PM me. :)

EDIT: My supplier apparently can only get the Nokian Nordman 7 right now in 235/60-18. Nothing else for Nokians. Bummer.. but I will keep checking if anything changes.

Btw, in that picture, you had a red "Driver's Side" sticker. Are those Bridgestone snow tires directional?
They actually were directional! I checked the tread and sidewall since I didn't think they were. Though the tread didn't seem to be, there were slight angles in it that would cause it to be directional. They are the Blizzak DM-V2.
