I won't deny that people have no reason to complain and certainly not in NA where the wait is already long enough.
But in Europe there are cases that have very little patience.
After VW communicates about updates, owners start to complain 2 days later.
I think I'm a little more patient because of my age. 😃

You would make out much better by buying out your lease at any time before the end, and sell it to carvana or others with their simple process, since the residual value is less than half the MSRP, and many used ID.4 are still selling for more than MSRP. That will change in a year, but its value will likely not drop in half.
Is it still possible to do business with Carvana at this point? I see their website is still up, but they're going through some serious problems, like suspension in Michigan, stock drop of 90%

I still have not received the first one
In the same boat. Wished there was some explanation for who is getting emails and who isn’t getting them. I haven’t gotten any emails directly from VW since my car was put on the ship, next thing I heard was from my dealer and have never heard from VW again.

Maybe our dealers neglected to put our e-mail to VW database so we are not getting vehicle owner communication. That, or VW database itself broken

I don't think it's personal... or in other words, it appears it was sent out shotgun style as a PR blurb for general consumption by the customer base, not like it is any sort of prioritized invite list. I wouldn't sweat not receiving it, just consider it message delivered by alternate means.

Anyone know what qualified an individual to receive the email ?

I bought a used 2021 1st edition and am registered with VW Car Net Connect, is there anything else I should be signed up with ??
Only qualification is having the right email address on the right list. Don't worry as a '21 this applies to you.

Well at least some of you got emails about it. I asked my service department about it because I didn’t get the email while in for my 10k service and they tried to tell me that is because only some ID.4s need their software updated. I was like I can’t even begin to explain to you how little you know about this car.

It never ceases to amaze me how little most dealerships know about their products, across most all marques. I'll never understand same. 🤷‍♂️

When a designer with Honeywell we received a steady "yellow flood" of so-colored hardcopy product technical update sheets and were expected to keep on top of all of them. Yet dealerships somehow get by making up whatever they feel like saying to a customer in the moment just to move them along. :(

One month of silence since the VW email… sigh
My friend got the email a few days ago and was shortly after contacted by his dealer to make an appointment. He's scheduled to get the update in a week. I, on the other hand, have still not gotten the message, though I bought my car at the same time. 🤨

It will be interesting to see if they are actually able to go through with this - I have read of instances in Europe where people had the appointment, but when they got to the dealer, they found that something still hadn't been fully released, and they couldn't do it quite yet.

I'm skeptical. I mean, I know somebody has to be the first, but this isn't passing the smell test. It's like when one person steps in the fecal frank and everybody on the bus is checking their shoes. No, we need a kindergarten field trip tromping through a barnyard kind of response here.

So…happy Thanksgiving everyone! Has anyone heard of any actual progress? Radio silence since the (postal) letter I received.
Nada...it was probably just them blowing smoke up our ass to quiet us down. VW has the next 4 days off then close down again for the xmas holidays midday 12/22- 1/2 - so unless its a christmas miracle and VW all of the sudden figured out how to keep a commitment and be customer centric, I don't think we'll be getting anything done this years, as specified in their 10/10 e-mail.

If I could get 50 cents for every rumor, I would be a rich man. But there was this:
