It’s not unusual in the world of software/firmware updates to have to apply then sequentially.
Right. For others who are not as familiar with the situation: sequential updates means that update conditions / testing can be restricted to the one sequence. If there are 1 to 10 versions "in the wild", a sequential update means considering "1 to 2", "2 to 3" ,... "10 to 11"; just 10 different updates. But updating "all previous versions" will have meant updating "1 to 2", then "1 to 3 and 2 to 3", then "1 to 4, 2 to 4, 3 to 4" ... up to "1 to 11, 2 to 11, .... 10 to 11". That is unmanageable.

Posted by a dealer rep on the "VW ID.4 USA Owners" Facebook group. Reported as an email sent to dealers today. Specificity of a service action code and date is encouraging.

According to the calendar, tomorrow is St. Nicholas Day. So Santa is coming? 🎅

Confirming @ErickF Just called my service manager at WinnVW in Newark, CA and he confirmed there is a service campaign starting with the software update and battery hardware replacement. I was unable to book in my 2021 ID4 as he explained the campaign is being rolled out in waves and I need to wait for an invitation with my VIN # either by email or letter in the mail. This is really encouraging, although it'd be great to hear this direct from Volkswagen USA

If this is true, then someone here on the forums will get this email fairly soon. Anyone? Bueller?

Hopefully the patience I put in waiting for this update will fix this issue that I randomly saw today with MY21 tonight…along with other random electrical fault, that comes and goes.

-limited travel assist
-front assist is not available
-travel assist is currently not available
-electrical fault. Visit dealer (this one does not allow me to put car into drive until I lock car and reopen again which has happened several times)
-Malfunction in dynamic cornering lighting
-and many others…

If this update doesn’t addressed this issue, will definitely think about bringing up the lemon law to VW Corporate. If my car is not even super old yet and is having all these random sporadic errors, think about what happens once the warranty expires. Anyone else facing these issues or know if this update will fix these issues?

Not sure if this has been asked before, just reading this tread, what is the status of your 12v battery?

I have none of these issues with my MY21 under v2.1 s/w. I would therefore think you should pursue "buy back", "lemon law", or similar as a software update is unlikely to rectify. It appears you have more serious computer/gateway/sensor/wiring issues.

Caveat: I can't help but add that my patient startup procedure (allowing all to fully boot, etc.) has I believe helped me avoid "gremlins." But again yours seem much more serious.
A few days back I was in a hurry to get to the Hardware store and just put in reverse without waiting for the ready sign to appear, well, the object proximity alarm triggered and was on all the trip to and from the hardware store, it even "survided" the shut off at the store parking, I got back home and left the card with the beeping sound, it went away after 20 minutes to never occur, so I think you have a point with the patient startup...

We're happy to tell you others are getting served... but not you... sigh...
I just got this email too.

Normally I'm first on the beta software bandwagon. This time I don't mind being in a subsequent batch, because I don't trust VW to fix it if they mess up.

Me too - on both counts ;) I guess they're batching out the emails...

Yep, incoming here are well. It's our only car, so I'm probably happy to not be a beta tester. :) Have 900 miles to go before our first 10k service though, so maybe.....
