If I set my ID.4 for a departure in the am when does it start charging? I know battery SOC will dictate that, but...

My power company is set up for a reduced cost to me per kwh between 9:00pm and 5:00am daily so I don't want the charge to start before 9:00pm EVER. I do have a Level II 40A charger. I know I could set my departure time at 5:00am so whatever else happens it should be charged to my set level (80%) by that time and charging stopped.

Other than the fact that even at zero SOC when plugged it shouldn't take more than 8 hrs to charge to 80% so I should be OK for it not starting to charge before 9:00pm.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

Hi, there are many reports that the timed charging available in the infotainment screen is buggy. You can do a search , hope this adresses your concern.

The ID4's scheduled charging software is more than "buggy." It simply doesn't work right at all. If a person wants to charge only at certain hours of the day to take advantage of lower electric rates, your only current options are to physically not plug in your car until the appointed time arrives, or to buy a smart charger that allows you to set the charging times on the EVSE. Do not use the car's software at this time. Hopefully the problem will be addressed in a coming updated.

I knew the software was buggy, but thought I might try it.
My EVSE is the Electrify America Home, but the wifi doesn't work. EA is working on a fix. It works perfectly as a dumb unit which I'm doing. I plug it in when I finish for the day and immediately stop charging with the Car-Net app. Then at 9:00pm start charging. It works well in this manner, but will be better when EA updates.
