Of course we already have scratches at the edges of our ID.4 (dusk blue) car doors. Should have bought plastic door edge guards before parking in our tiny garage. Anyone with experience with VW paint pens?
I'm torn between fixing the paint or getting a black rubber door guard to just cover it up.I'm so annoyed the car isn't even a week old 😭😭😭
Have you used Automotive Touchup before with gold results? There are many brands out there.Sad, but some great videos out there on fixing scratches ... patience and attention to detail.
Thanks! I looked at it more closely and thank God the white I saw wasn't paint but it was residue from the wall. No chips! One part where the clearcoat might be coming off but I'm going to buy some PPF for the door edges.I doubt you'll be happy using a paint pen on any of the metallic colors, which the dusk blue is one if I'm not mistaken. It will make an obvious difference that will look less or more obvious depending on angle you look at it. With modern metallic paints you can't even paint one panel to look correct--it needs to be blended into the surrounding panels and it's non-trivial to get it to be nearly unnoticeable.
Owning a white ID.4 and reading your post brought back is a memory of my FBO days. A line tech caused a bit of hangar rash on the wing of one of the King Airs, and rather than fess up, he grabbed a bottle of White Out and dressed the damage.I’ve used pens and small bottles with brushes for scratches before. I think I like the brush better, it’s more of a dabbing action than a brush stroke...
Okay, that’s pretty hilarious.Owning a white ID.4 and reading your post brought back is a memory of my FBO days. A line tech caused a bit of hangar rash on the wing of one of the King Airs, and rather than fess up, he grabbed a bottle of White Out and dressed the damage.
Didn't work out too well for him.
