Popping sound when entering

I have an unusual popping/loud clicking sound when I enter the vehicle and sit in the drivers seat. It does it again when I exit the drivers seat. It appears to come from underneath the seat or vehicle. At first I thought it was the suspension under the car but realized it is when I sit or exit the drivers seat with the key fob. Does anyone else notice the same thing?

Are you hearing the electronic steering column lock, unlocking (when you sit down) and locking (when you get up)?

Yes, the same thing happens to me. Must be something in the seat registering that someone is in the car.

maybe its the battery relays kicking in ?
Yes, that is what I am thinking, the battery relay connecting. Only I think it is rather loud. My chev Volt makes a sound, but nothing like this. Just checking to see if this is 'normal' and others experience the same.

Nope, not the steering column lock. The sound occurs as soon as I sit in the drivers seat, but before I touch the steeting wheel.
I just received my car and it does the same thing. I think it is arcing in the HV contactors. This sounds like it could cause a problem eventually. Did anybody with this problem have any issues?
Mine does it too.
Especially in the garage it sounds quite loud.
Will be normal because it has been doing it since day1.

I get the same - perfectly normal for the ID.4, accordibg to the dealer.

It is the seat sensor activating the elctrical systems and relays kicking in (I am paraphrasing).

Welcome to the forum! It's unfortunate that your very first post is worrisome. Please be reminded that automotive forums in general surface concerns far out of proportion to praise. Just the nature of same, so please consider.

Every electro-mechanical device will 'cause a problem' eventually. But we're likely talking many years as HV relays etc. are accelerated wear tested to thousands of cycles. So, it's not a 'problem' and not an 'issue.'
To me it's just one more unique occurrence of the EV experience in general and ID.4 specifically. 😉

btw: I do recognize that we older folks are more used to the sound of relays whereas the younger not so much given most electronics these days are solid state. Case in point an ol' school Bell Telephone central office with constant clacking of call setup relays (long before packet switching).

There's still a place for relays/contactors, especially in high voltage applications.
