I was looking around the posts and did not see this question as yet. I have the ID4 First Edition, which has the power trunk / liftgate. My problem is that the liftgate opens up too high in the garage and can crash into the garage door. I have to grab the liftgate, to force it to stop, before it makes contact with the roll up garage door. Now I know there are some vehicles that have a feature where one can program the tailgate to stop at a set height, but I have not found this setting on the ID4. How are others dealing with this issue? I believe I have a 'standard' size garage door with an 80" height.

Normal procedure for other VWs (and other brands) is to open the liftgate to the desired height, then press and hold the close button on the liftgate until the lights flash. This should set the max opening height. I haven't tried it on my ID.4.

Thank you so much. That procedure worked on the ID4. I did not notice any flashing lights but did hear a little tone sound. 😀

I have the opposite problem. Mine doesn’t open all the way and I have hit my head on it three times. I’ve tried pushing all the way open and then holding the button until it chirps, but it never remembers the setting… 😓

That’s weird, it should work exactly like that. I have adjusted ours upwards from the first adjustment we made in an effort to accommodate our garage ceiling and my 6’5” frame. Worked as designed.

Do I need to lock the car immediately after or press any combination of of buttons?

According to my EV specialist who showed us this, and our own experience, no. Just wait for the sound to acknowledge the new height setting and you’re good.

You used to be able to hold the outside release button and the inside close button at the same time with the lid fully open until it beeps to reset the system. Not sure it works on ID4

I'd suggest having your dealer check it out. My thought is that your hydraulic arms may have an issue, where they aren't capable of opening up the door completely.
