Posted this on the E-Tron Forum as well. Interested to see people predictions from this forum.

Interested to see what predictions people have for this Wednesday’s reveal of the Q4. I believe the starting price is going to be 45,000 USD and there has been suggestions that at least in the US only AWD is available. Here are my two predictions if both are true:

1.) Base model will have a lower powered AWD system. The Skoda Enyaq has both a 201 and 262 HP AWD versions. Could be either one but would guess the 262 version (201 just seems to be to under powered). This configuration has the 82 kWH battery.

2.) Base model will have the 262 HP AWD with the smaller 62 kWh battery. This I think is less likely because you can’t have the cheaper ID.4 with 30% larger battery.

Both are pie in the sky guesses. My real guess is rear motor only and 82 kWH battery with no ACC and lane keep assist since the base Q5 doesn’t have those safety features either.

Audi could also pull a Tesla and VW and offer their cheaper version 1-2 years from now.

Would love to see Audi sell a lowered powered AWD system because range could be as good or better than the ID.4 RWD with 82 kWH battery.

What do you guys think? What are your predictions?

Here is more info on the Enyaq drivetrain and battery options.

My guess for the U.S. model: Only available in AWD, 82 kWh battery, 262 HP. Starting price mid-to-high $50s. (I would love to be wrong though). I could see Audi have a version with a more powerful motor.

I just looked at the Q3 and they have a less powerful AWD model that has only 184 hp.

But the Q4 is going to be a Q5 replacement (not Q3) so I can’t see that happening with a low powered AWD option. I personally would love it but I am the worst gauge for main steam products sold in the US.

It is really interested to see how Audi prices and specs the Q4. It is hard to imagine them price and spec anything near the ID.4 Pro S AWD. Which pushes the car in the $50k+ range.

Any guesses what will arrive stateside first, AWD ID.4 or Q4? My understanding is that the latter is rolling off the assembly line but not the ID AWD.

And... Very curious residual value will Q4 lease with... Could a 50k Q4 lease payment be within spitting range of 45k ID?

My bet is starting price for base model just under 50k

My prediction…
AWD standard.
Same battery as ID4.
$48k Standard model with 260 HP.
$52k Prestige package to add glass roof, wheels, some other goodies.
$56k+ S-Line with some exterior accents, the nicer interior, and 300 HP.

"Premium Plus" has always been the Audi sweet spot for me. The base Premium model is always lacking and you pay a substantial "premium" to jump to Prestige with typically not anything I've really needed.

I'm sure it will be very nice.
I'm sure it will be more powerful.
I'm sure it will be significantly more expensive. ;)

@eb2143,

Spoke to my local Audi dealer earlier this week and he said in November they will be getting most likely 8 Q4s in. So I am guessing close to when the ID.4 AWD is coming out.

@LittleJoe,

Those price points and specs make sense. A lower powered AWD version with less premium touches at the same price with the ID.4 Pro S makes a lot of sense. It really wouldn’t take to much sales from VW at that point.

@Huey52,

I agree all Premium trim Audi’s have less safety features than the ID.4 Pro so would be surprised to see ACC, lane keep assist and even heated steering wheel on the base “Premium” trim.

Anyone think that they will provide any free EA with purchase or lease of the Q4? I guessing yes but not unlimited for 3 years.

The issue, from VAG's perspective, is VW sales cannibalizing Audi sales and not the other way around. I don't remember if it was ever stated explicitly, but this is one of the reasons many of us suspected the eGolf was discontinued, for example.

Definitely same batteries as ID. Same platform so should be. I like your pricing. I would be in the market for that with a rebate. About same as Mach e which probably has some affect on Audi price points.

Does VAG prefer volume (VW) or per unit (Audi) profit? 🤷‍♂️
I can't speak for the company, and I don't have any insider knowledge to do so anyway, but my rough take on it is that they prefer both and that's why they are so careful to avoid pricing overlap like I was describing.

It's always been an interesting discussion where the Golf R sits in that context but the perspective was certainly made clear when we saw the eGolf get discontinued, we never got the GTE, and instead the eTron became a fully electrified lineup.

What happens next? Is it that the ID4 becomes the bridge between the gasser masses and Audi's becomes fully electric? We get some fan service in the form of cult classic electrics from VW (Buzz, is the Crozz the Beatle? I can't tell) and then ten years from now VW becomes fully electric?

I agree the base model will be $45k since that has been the only thing Audi has confirmed to the press multiple times. I think the US models will be AWD since they love the quattro title, and it will be the same 300hp as the ID.4. I think they will reach the lower price by making the base model not have many of the advanced things included on the ID.4: like heated seats and wheel and windshield, ACC, rain sensing wipers, sunroof, power liftgate, etc. Audi will offer a lot more options than VW, so I would want a higher than base model and easily get to $55k.

I think Audi will offer options for the HUD, heat pump, and adaptive suspension which are all options in the Euro ID.4 that we did not get, and they will offer them on Audi for 'brand differentiation'.

It’ll have a range with fewer miles than the ID4, as well.

I don't think that it will be unlimited either. Dustin at VW made it seem like he really had to fight for that in one of those interviews. Audi will assume that if you are rich enough to buy the car, you can afford to pay for electrons. 🤪
