Production order status codes - find what is happening with my order

Here is a list I have made from the huge Shipping logistics thread of what the secret codes you can get from the portal and what they mean if you are tech enough to use the developer tools in your browser. US website only. Your dealer probably has a way to see these codes, and that is where us forum dwellers got these descriptions. Directions in this thread:
Here's how to find it in Firefox - should be the same on any platform.

Menu -> Web Developer (or More Tools) -> Web Developer Tools
Click the Network tab
Log into the Portal or refresh if you're already logged in
Click the little Search magnifying glass to the right of the Filter box
In the "Find in resources box" (not the Filter box) search for GetReservations
After a few seconds you should get a couple hits, click on one of them
On the far right change the tab to Response
Finally look in the JSON data below, there should be "vin:" along with some other stuff.
and then search for orderStatusCode, then wait a few seconds and expand by clicking on the api.vw.com responses (note VIN is not assigned until 20-1, and its not included in the codes any longer, you have to ask your dealer for the VIN)
you don't have to search for GetReservations unless you want some other data besides orderStatusCode
03 Locked (wheel step 3)
05 Locked next step order created
10 Locked next step request production, order confirmed
10-2 Locked next step factory approved
15-1 Vehicle Scheduled For Production (call your dealer now they usually have better dates than the portal.)
15-2 Vehicle in production
20-1 Production complete, VIN assigned, in transit from factory
20-2 Left the port (wheel step 4, at this point some dealers can tell you a ship number for those really obsessed with this.)
30-1 Arrived in port but not unloaded yet. (2023 - Vehicle at US Port, factory is a free trade zone)
30-2 Unloaded from ship, not cleared customs yet (wheel step 5, 2023 :US Port Allocated ).
30-3 Cleared customs, Released to Carrier, waiting to load on transporter
35-1 On Rail to Dealer
35-2 On Truck to Dealer
35-3 Vehicle At Railhead
40 in a holding parking lot waiting for a truck
50 and higher- Arriving at dealer (wheel step 6-7, yet often dealer calls and its in before wheel updates)

Post in this thread if you get any others, they seem to keep adding and changing a few of them.
Edit: now there is a simpler way to see these codes using a chrome extension developed by a member here:
See -> VW Reservation Assistant

Thanks for posting the list of codes! It'll save me time in searching for them down the road! Sitting on "10" at the moment!!!
Does anybody have an idea what status 30-3 indicates, my car went to that status shortly after arriving at port?

Wow! This is a great tool! My code is also 30-3, I was notified today it had arrived in the U.S.
Some of us have recently noticed a 10-2 OSC pop up. It occurs a few days before the change to 15-1, so it seems to indicate ”production scheduling imminent.” We can add that to our bag of tricks.

Another thing that gets asked repeatedly:
If you are close enough to one of the ports they list you get them quicker. Slower for those of us who get them by rail+truck. See:

I've been checking my order status code every day and it just moved from 3 to 10. I reserved 8/19 and locked it 8/27. Any ideas on how long it takes to go from 10 to 15-1?

Ordered April, locked in June, went to 10 on 9/9 and still there...

It took about 15 weeks for me, and only 1 week for some others. Some dealers get you on the production schedule (15-1) quicker than others, with not much pattern I can see. They still end up producing most of them in order of reservation date, in spite of the huge differences in other steps. Here is a tracking spreadsheet to look at how others move through the steps:

Ordered in March locked late August just went to 20-2 this morning...

Now if I could just figure out which ships are heading to the west coast from Emden...

Ordered: 8/9
Added Gradient: 8/26
Locked: 9/2
10: 9/16
10-2: 10/14
15-1: 10/17

Hoping it will take less time to flip to 15-1, but not holding my breath. It's an AWD in the King's Red, heading to the Mid-Atlantic.

I just called my dealer and got good news, mine went in production on 10-8 which is what is needed to get it this year if everything goes smooth. This is another data point that the portal is not being updated since it still says 15-1 even though it should have gone 15-2 a week ago. He says production complete (20-1) is 10-18 and then 9-10 more weeks to get it ship-rail-truck. Finally I can get excited that I might barely get it this year!

Thanks! I've been using that spreadsheet and it's great data for those of us who probably spend too much time thinking about getting their new ID.4. I do wish it tracked more status dates. I've added a note in the Notes column when I switch status.
Ordered: 8/9
Added Gradient: 8/26
Locked: 9/2
10: 9/16

Thanks - that looks promising. Is yours AWD or RWD?
I do wish it tracked more status dates.
The trouble with any of the status before 15-1 is they vary hugely and don't appear to correlate to delivery date or anything at all. Especially since they are working through a big backlog from 9-2020 until 6-2021 when they locked 8 months of orders in just a few days. This made the lock dates up to 6-2021 not mean much since they produce by reserved date. And now with the portal not updating much, calling your dealer is the best info (and for mine its the only info) once you reach 15-1.

Sorry, just noticed this! It's an AWD in red, heading to the Mid-Atlantic, if it makes a difference. And it flipped to 15-1 this morning. Going to update my timeline above.

Works the same in Microsoft Edge
Well, there appears to be another mystery code in there as my order just went from 35-3 to 40 this afternoon (no wheel update since "arriving in US") so hopefully that's "getting unloaded from truck and downloading a super secret 2.3 update only for me to make everyone jealous" status... though probably just checking in at final destination :)
