DCU is offering a .25 discount for fuel efficient vehicles as well.

is there any reason why one couldn't lease the car to get the credit rolled in then immediately buy out the lease with a bank loan? I'd much rather have a 30k loan with today's rates than a 37k loan that i'll want to refinance a year from now at higher rates.

Hmm. At finance.vwcredit.com they don't have the ID.4 listed when you say what model you are applying for. How can you get pre-approved then?
Get pre-approved at your own bank/credit union. I got pre-approved at Navy Federal CU.

Correct. Get pre-approved. Right now, Navy Federal Credit Union is offering 2.19% for loans from 48 to 60 months. If you already financed through the dealer, you can still re-finance at the same rate, plus, they are offering a $200 cash back.
鈥楶enFed has 1.99 for 60 months.

We bought last week and got 1.99 from the dealer. I was going to go with DCU but I got a "you got one day if you want this discounted FE" offer from the dealer, so 1.99 from Capital One it was!

When have folks begun negotiating their OTD/Selling prices?
Is the general rule that you don't bother until you get the email from VW saying "ok, time to start taking about $" or have people been pressing their dealership's EV specialist/salespeople early and been buttoned up ahead of time?

I'm still just at the locked in state on our RWD grey but seeing how quickly the process has moved for others in this "post FE/pre AWD" period, I'm curious as to the path folks have taken.

I think you should be having this conversation before selecting your delivery dealership. Without them having to lift a finger, they should be more than pleased to get a customer who is willing to pay MSRP, and my own preference would be to get somebody below sticker to beat the next guy and win my order.

I shopped around on dealerships to find one who would do a 20"-19" wheel swap on a pro s gradient with me and have that agreement on writing from the sales manager (The ev specialist was on vacation, so I lucked into that one). There was a bit of 'lead a horse to water' between emails and phone calls, but I got him to see that they would be able to upsell the 20s on another vehicle and build in some profit margin and spoke straight to the business model (thanks YAA).
I guess my next step is to start nailing down the OTD with the assumption that, though my reservation says Aug-sept delivery, it may just as likely jump steps and I could be just a couple weeks away out of nowhere.

My loan is at 1.74% and I have a savings account that pays 3% so it鈥檚 better than free 馃し馃徏鈥嶁檪锔
I didn't even think about that. I have savings accounts that pay 5% interest rate.

Or stock market is about 8% return year over year in the course of history. Money today is always worth more than money tomorrow.

I'm picking up my Pro S this afternoon. They texted me a copy of their invoice. Straight MSRP + Destination = $45,690. Only other addition was a $199 doc fee, which isn't bad for that common charge.

OTD price it depends on whether you are getting a gradient trim ($1500), sales tax, and doc fees for your city. MSRP + Destination is $45,690. If you are in a high tax jurisdiction (~10% sales tax), OTD could be close to 50k.

I can't seem to make those numbers add up to the total, but in any case I have no idea what the "Dealer Service fee" is and I would not pay it. The other fees sound like they would be standard in your locality, but you'd have to check. Basically you should pay MSRP+tax+standard fees (usually limited by state law) and no more.

But I did pay something like the electronic filing fee because I bought my car out-of-state and I was basically paying them for the extra work of filing for title etc in my state.

Ask them to take the dealer service fee, doc stamps, elec filing fee and additional fee off the MSRP
