I am wondering if any other US ID.4 FE users have the same thing listed in Settings->System information, then scroll down. My Radio database reads: —-
Yes, my radio database is missing too. I believe this database provides the radio station logos which appear on the FM radio station screens. Most of the radio station in the Chicago area, where I live, display a generic logo, although a few have custom logos. These logos didn't appear initially, but were populated over time through an over-the-air data broadcast option utilized by some HD radio broadcasters. I've asked VW customer care if there's a way to manually install the missing radio database, and they are investigating. I'll provide an update if I get an answer.I am wondering if any other US ID.4 FE users have the same thing listed in Settings->System information, then scroll down. My Radio database reads: —-

Here's the reply from VW:...I've asked VW customer care if there's a way to manually install the missing radio database, and they are investigating. I'll provide an update if I get an answer.
That explanation is sketchy at best. I've driven a 2019 RAV4 and a 2021 Audi Q5 that both obtained radio station logos from some cloud source, probably Gracenote but not sure about that. I didn't have to do anything. Logos appeared even for the most obscure local low-power stations that absolutely have no way of broadcasting a logo (which is probably unique to stations in digital HD anyway). Here's the reply from VW:
From my research, the systems settings information you are seeing for the static station logo database is only for Europe. On US vehicles, there is not a static or downloadable database available.
The reason you are not seeing all of the FM station logos stems from radio station themselves and their ability to broadcast a logo. The infotainment system in your ID.4 will decode the logo if it's available and will automatically store it in the database. Each radio station individually chooses when they broadcast their logo; some radio stations will broadcast the logo every 10 minutes, every hour, or whenever they choose. This isn't something that VW controls.
Not just that - other cars let you import a set of custom POI into the navigation system. In recent years, say 2016-2020 you could upload radio station logos from a USB thumb drive into VW infotainment systems but that seems to have gone by the wayside. Really dumb oversight on VW's part to not support this on the ID.4 in the US because the data is there and downloadable by the car. Duh.
