Hey folks,

The other day I was driving in my new ID.4 and witnessed a crash in front of me. The driver of an older SUV was inattentive and slammed into the rear right corner of a Mazda 3 that was in the left turn lane.

This got me wondering: the ID.4 has at least one forward and one rear facing camera. Is there no way to capture the data from these in the event of an incident the way a Tesla can? This would be super helpful for insurance purposes. Should definitely go on the wish list for OTA updates if this is technically possible.

ID has radar and cameras. There's not currently a method for capturing video, though. Honestly don't know why carmakers haven't twigged to that yet, considering it's as simple as an SD card and some software.

That said, you can get a good dual-cam for front and rear for a couple hundred easy these days. I've got an older front model I'll probably replace soon.
