My 2021 ID.4 First Edition has a remote power tail gate button by the driver side door and it is supposed to unlock the lift gate by pressing on the button but it is not working. I mentioned this to the dealer and I was told I need to leave the car at the dealership for at lease a couple of days so the dealer can write up a service request to VW for a diagnostic and repair since the ID4 is so new. It seems to me the power lift gate button should work the same as non electric VW cars and the fix should be readily available to the dealership. Any suggestions???

Just to be sure, did you try pulling up on the button? It has to be pulled up, I believe it's designed that way so that it won't get pressed accidentally.

Yes, I'm pulling on the button and nothing happens. I am using the key fob tail gate button while I'm sitting inside and it doesn't work either. If I'm outside the car with the key fob on me, I can open the tail gate with key fob, easy open or latch under the lid.

Opening with the drivers interior lift gate button should work all the time (the motion is to lift the switch, as people said). I was initially thrown off that to close the gate, you have to hold the switch “up” and the car has to be “on” (press the brake to turn the car on)
