Reservation date/Delivery time?

As many have started to post some have received their ID4 orders and some are stating that it is on the way to dealer. Are all these individuals people who reserved last year? When the portal opened in September? I made my first payment on my reserved ID4 in beginning February, lock payment in early this month, does that mean I will not see my car till the end of this year?😢 I am waiting in the west coast, San Diego area.

If you orders a first addition it should be here within a few weeks, any other model will start showing up late spring to mid summer.

Unless you order AWD, which the latest delay email said will be Oct.-Dec.

So it took one month for you to go to step 2 ? Can you specify if you ordered the AWD ? Most people show a long lead time on those.
I ordered Pro S Gradient RWD in blue and it has been 10 days sitting on Step 1, to today, if someone is wanting a current reference for that combo.
Reserved January 15th. Locked in March 5th. Just got an email saying estimated delivery Summer 2021. Not a FE.

Thanks for this update. If you read around the forum you may get lucky, some people say it just steps and times, and they get theirs sooner.
I wonder if there is a wait time difference from when you reserve and when you lock that can determine your delivery.

You reserved a month earlier than me but it seems we locked on the same day, I wonder.

It seems like there are some extra 1st editions to be had. I know my dealer (Maryland) has three that aren't already sold or promised. If you don't want to wait I'd call around to the various VW dealer in your area and see what they say.
Reserved on opening day. Locked on November 19th. The Wheel of Torture moved to Leaving the Factory on February 23rd, about a week before the email from Volkswagen announced it. Wednesday evening, the 17th, the Wheel changed to Arriving in the US. Hopefully, I'll see the actual vehicle before the email that tells me its in the country. ;)

I'm a second-chance FE order; still waiting at step 3/7 today :(
I was a second chance FE buyer, too, in January. Moved to Step 4 weeks ago and has not budged 😥

Step 4 means probably on a ship somewhere.

On an off topic note, the same marine traffic website can be used to see that cargo ship that jackknifed in the Suez canal.

Reserved an AWD on day one back in September. Switched to an FE during second chance in January. Accepted delivery yesterday in Southern California.

I have been at step four for 16 days now. I don’t know how long it takes to cross the ocean and processed in the US

It depends on what port your car would be delivered to - it could be as much as 4 weeks. You should move to step 5 when the car gets unloaded.

If you can get your dealer to give you the vessel number and your port, you could track the ship in the logistics thread.
Good to see so many orders in some sort of progression.
Late to the party. Ordered a AWD 2 January and stuck on #1. Has anyone moved on from step 1 with a AWD order?

Yes there are a number of AWD who ordered on 9-23 who have locked their order 22 days ago, a few days (hours?) before they got the email notifying of the delay to Oct. to Dec. in this thread:
Your order is locked ID.4 Pro S AWD (Statement)

I have been reading around this forum and not sure if there a logistical sense to how these car are being shipped. I know that the first editions have been reaching people however there are others that ordered Pro S models that seem to be moving forward on the VW portal wheel. Some have reserved from the beginning while others just locked their orders and have notices of being on step 5 now. As for myself I am a late comer to the order game and have locked my Pro S the beginning of this month and just wondering when the wheel might grant me a step forward. I am just being impatient, I guess it doesn't help that my family needs a second car since our old one burst into flames.
