Hi everyone,
With more and more vehicles leaving the factory, I thought it might be helpful for us to collect and organize some data that would help address some of the common questions in comments related to lock date, delivery, trim, etc.

Here is a link to a google spreadsheet where anyone can add their info if they are willing to share. Feel free to share this elsewhere or offer suggestions on other data that might be useful.

Thanks. Added my reservation date and I'll keep it updated.
EDIT: Email to place order received 09/09/21. We locked our order in.

I placed my reservation for an AWD model on May 15 of this year, and I have not yet been given any opportunity to place an order. I wasn't worried until I saw the spreadsheet where there are numerous AWD entries with an order lock date of just a few weeks after their reservation date. Help! What am I doing wrong?

I'm in the U.S., but don't know if all the entries in the spreadsheet are as well, or if that even makes a difference.

I'm wondering if your area or region does not have a predetermined production allocation. As I have learned from the dealer, production allocations are already determined. So when you reserve a certain combination, your delivery determined on that delivery allocation.

I'm wondering this as well, I live in MN but dealer is in WI... smallerish town, small dealer... 🤷‍♂️

Interesting theory. Probably right.

From looking at the spreadsheet it seems clear that VW is prioritizing the higher end configurations. My AWD Pro has sat without a lock since May.

Its a combination of trim level and reservation date.
There is someone with a Pro AWD with a lock date that reserved in December last year.

Does the local dealer have any influence on getting the reservation to move forward?
No, according to my local dealer. My salesman, who is fairly knowledgeable about most aspects of the ID.4, was not even aware that AWD Pro S Gradient orders get favored treatment over AWD Pro S non-Gradient orders. He said they are completely hands off when it comes to the reservation process.

Does it restart the process to change/update my reservation?
It does not restart the process. I had two reservations: 1st for RWD and then later for AWD because at the time no specifics were out on AWD. I decided on AWD. When asked to lock my first order I called the phone support and asked whether I should change the early RWD to AWD or keep the later reservation. I was told to change the early res to AWD since it would be prioritized by reservation date.

On the other hand, some have reported upgrading to Pro S-statement got a quick lock-date.

Something seems to be out of sync in the spreadsheet. it seems to be sorted by lock date then reservation date, and my 10/21/21 RWD Pro S reservation is correct, but the Drive Train column seems to be sorted all by itself too. This makes it look like no-one ordered RWD before 10/18/21. Any ideas? Thx

When I looked just now, I saw the opposite. First sorted by reservation date, then by lock date. No RWDs in the first 95 rows though, which does look suspicious. Perhaps that column didn't exist when the spreadsheet was created, and then the author added it in later and the default was AWD?

Google spreadsheets are strange, in that there doesn't seem to be a File Save function like Microsoft Excel. I may be wrong, but I think if someone changes the sorting for their own purposes and then doesn't hit Undo, then everyone who looks after that will see the new sorting until someone else changes it back.

Somebody messed up the spreadsheet badly by not just changing the sort order, they corrupted it at about 4:00pm yesterday, and today it had to be reverted back to the last good version. Looks fixed.

Thanks VT_Steve & SunWizard. I don’t know much about Google Sheets either, but it looks better now. Now all we need is to see some new lock dates showing up 😉
