Looks like multiple people were able to place their order and lock it. I placed mine on 4/4 and locked today.
You will probably get a notice in 7-10 days that your car is at Stage 4 (Leaving the Factory), but don't expect it to reach Stage 5 (Arriving in the U.S.) for at least another 6 weeks. I reached Stage 4 on 4/6/21 and have been told not to expect delivery until JUNE 10-14.View attachment 2642
Hey guys I just wanted to update the status on my reservation for anyone wondering.
1. Placed $100 on 04/12/2021
2. Confirmed order and placed additional $400 deposit on 04/15/2021.
Hopefully things keep moving this quickly.
I ordered the Pro S Gradient RWD with white exterior and lunar grey interior.
I was worried about the white steering wheel but it really hasn't been too bad in the 1.5 weeks since we got the car! I bet the red looks sharp though.Test drove an FE on 5/14/21, immediately went home and reserved a Pro S Gradient in King's Red RWD. I've been in the 9 o'clock "Reservation confirmed" zone since then. I could have taken delivery of the FE, but that white steering wheel is like having small kids and having a white sofa and white carpeting. It's simply a matter of time before it's trashed. Since I live in the Chicagoland area, I was a bit concerned about the RWD, but I did some research and the weight distribution of the motor and battery isn't like old school cars with light rear ends.
LOL the problem is that it's a long way from Germany to the US now matter how you slice and dice it. I'm in Chicago too, if I see a red ID.4 I'll know for sure it's you. 😂The important thing to remember is, the ID.4 isn’t a Bentley or Bugatti (also VW brands) that take 100s of hours to build. I was a safety manager during the construction of VW’s Passat assembly plant in Chattanooga and once they got humming, they rolled out new Passats every few minutes. As long as suppliers keep supplying components, they’ll crank them out and ship them as soon as they possibly can.
I was just curious and did an autotrader.com search for red ID.4s, not a single one listed in the whole nation 😂.There wasn’t a dire shortage of microchips back then, so there’s that. I was also in the Navy, and unlike US Navy ships that take their sweet ass time going anywhere, cargo ships don’t mess around.
Maybe they don't think that anyone besides you is willing to pay the extra $400 for the red color. That’s crazy! I supervised electricians working in the paint shop at VW Chattanooga, and the paint robots switched colors on the fly.
If purchased, and resale is considered, it could be that the extra 400 gets more than made up later.Maybe they don't think that anyone besides you is willing to pay the extra $400 for the red color.
