I am wondering about doing this retrofit, with 360 camera my ID.4 will be complete! (y) I already scratched my front bumper silver trim a bit.
It is quite expensive, basically no warranty, not sure if works on US ID.4, and questionable dongle coding (whether it will work at all, or whether it will work after OTA), but then it will be a proper 2021 50K car.
I guess some of you would say, just be a better driver :ROFLMAO:

Any thoughts?

just realize that to be able to do the coding, a dealer needs to unlock the modules via Odis. Only after the unlock, the supplied dongle can write the required changes.
another thing is wiring harness, it might be different for the US car, due to the lighted badge, etc

Would the package comes with the required wiring? If doing this I imagine would be disassembling quite a bit of the car... Also, I guess VW dealer wouldn't just willy nilly agree to unlock modules when I ask them to... 🤷‍♂️ and also with every OTA that would reset everything and another dealer visit...

Sounds like more trouble than its worth?

If I were sitting in America, like I am, and looked at the European models, like I have, and were to consider doing a retrofit with something that I don't get, I would go for the Heads-Up display. That seems like an obvious piece of tech that I feel slighted over.

But YMMV.

I hear ya about the HUD (Augmented-Reality HUD, how cool is that). IMHO HUD is kinda "fun factor," while 360 is critical to make it easier to navigate in tight spaces and to avoid our beautiful rims getting scratched or doors dinged etc. But yeah HUD is also a big missing item as my buddies are laughing their cheaper cars have all the fancy 360s and HUDs and I feel like a loser sometimes. 😤

Once you get used to 360 it is hard to go back. I had it on all my recent cars and I kind of dread the moment I start driving my ID.4 (hopefully within a few weeks). HUD is more of a gimmick in opinion. Have it on my other cars, but rarely pay attention to it.

If the Tesla M3 or MY had a HUD, I might consider them. As it is I refuse to consider a car that I have to look down and right to find out my speed.

Good heavens! That's $2,800 and surely a couple hundred more for a dealer to make it work. Good thing that doesn't comes as standard on most packages, because I'd never come close to getting my money's worth out of that even if I kept the car 20 years
