Routine Scheduled Maintenance?

17858 Views 43 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Huey52
Okay this may sound really dumb. Usually with a new car you get a routine maintenance schedule booklet telling you what should be done at various mileage intervals. I didn't get such a book with my new ID.4. How do I know what needs to be done and when? Do I simply rely on the car to alert me when the next routine maintenance is due? Thanks.

In the manual? Also, it’s been posted on here several times if you do a quick search in the “Search Community” bar above.
Alright - I dug it up…. 😁

Here is the maintenance schedule direct link (from another post): https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10185652-0001.pdf

Thank you! Great to have a digital copy of the owner's manual too. Much appreciated.

Thanks. Also helpful. After digging through all the paperwork I did find a small card with a QR code which links to the Digital Owner's Literature tool where I am supposed to be able to access the Maintenance Booklet. It also says hardcopies can be purchased from WV. Jeez, after paying several thousands of dollars for the vehicle, VW wants to charge me to buy the booklet?

My car came with the booklet. If yours didn’t, you should contact your dealer and request it.
My ID.4 arrived at the dealer without an Owner's Manual in the glove box. The dealership ordered one for me through the parts department and it finally arrive about 2 months later. Of course, I always had the information via PDF download, but it's just one of those things that nice to have in the glove box.
Both of mine came with them in the glovebox.
I didn't get a maintenance booklet, but then again other than the typical brake fluid flush every couple years there's not much maintenance anyway. :)

related: I've always admired the way the Brit's maintain their maintenance history with dealerships stamping their booklets. I always have to maintain my own logbook.

How about with the additional maintenance
1. Cabin AF
2. 12V Battery
3. Coolant fluid
4. Gearbox fluid
5. Wiper blades condition. Inspection or replace as required
6. Tires condition. Rotate or replace as required
7. Brakes condition. Inspection, service or replace as required

Don't forget wiper blades (once a year), tires & brakes as needed.
Exactly, there’s not much maintenance compared to an ICE vehicle 😉

Easy peasy maintenance. There's nothing to it ;)

Correct! I will add those to the list.

Wiper blades once a year? I get 10 years out of a set. And it rains a LOT where I live!
Modern coolant and gearbox fluid is "lifetime". A 12V battery will last the life of the car if you look after it...
I use Gummi Pflege Stift periodically on my wiper blades and get longer life, but I do like new ones too. I use same on other rubberoid window & door seals as well.

Dry and/or Sun-intensive areas need maintenance/replacement even more than in your "naturally lubricated" environment. ;)

I've had 12V vehicle batteries last 6 or more years, but life of the vehicle not possible unless a very short life. A lead-acid battery is constantly eating away at itself. At least we in the states typically get a bit of a rebate on the new one by recycling the old core.

Big fan of the Gummi Pflege too. I use it on all of the rubber trim around doors, hatches, hoods, etc and it seems to do a good job of keeping them in great shape.
