Just follow up on the 60day 5k check up saga. Well they replaced the infotainment module because they couldn’t clear the error codes. This took two weeks. Once they replaced it the auto lock, unlock and easy open features stoped working. This puzzled them, They have been in contact with VW and tried everything finally they were told to replace the comfort module, well after another two weeks, and more calls to VW that didn’t work, now they have a KESE module on order, I am guessing another two weeks for the part to see if that works. So total we will be without the car for 5 to 6 weeks, that is if this new module works. If it doesn’t work who know how long this will take.

Seems like you have far exceeded the Lemon Law requirements of most states. Maybe you need to arrange for a new new ID4?

Our lemon law is four attempts to fix the issue and/or 30 days without an operational vehicle. This will be the third attempt and we are at 3 1/2 weeks without the car.

our dealer has been really good and are as frustrated as we are, yes they gave us 2021 Passat as a loaner. We are headed out of state next week and if the car isn’t ready they said they would provide us with a rental, the loaner isn’t allowed out of state. VW said they would also reimburse us for any gas spent since we would have no travel cost with our ID.4 and free EA charging. Again I can’t the dealer is doing everything they can talking with the techs ordering parts etc. it’s all a learning curve on all sides

As early adopters, we can expect a few 'issues' with any brand new model until VW gets people trained on what to look for when troubleshooting problems. We bought our Mitsubishi EV's as soon as they hit the market and while we've had very few problems, other than 4 or 5 factory recalls, it's not unusual for a brand new model, especially a first electric model, to need to spend some time at the dealer getting a few bugs worked out

Here's hoping you get your car back soon!

Just an update on our saga; it’s been going on 5 1/2 weeks now, three modules later and our dealer being on the phone with VW techs daily, we are no closer to getting our car back. The diagnosis now from the VW Techs it is a software issue, not a module issue. They are hopeful They will resolve it today 🤞. I do have a call into customer care about a possible buy back if it comes to that. The dealer has been very good and supportive of our issues, they are doing everything in their power to resolve the issues. We love the car and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another one, with such new technology they are baffled as well.

They are talking with VW techs and are trying everything. So far no luck. After replacing 3 modules they have narrowed it down to software but can’t get it to accept anything. They said we should know more this afternoon.
Now they are trying to reprogram the Gateway module (whatever that is) I see from Car Net whatever they are attempting it has activated 3 times in the last hour. I haven’t heard from them so I take whatever they are doing has not been successful.

If it were me, I think Id ask for a buyback after today. Sounds like you've met the requirements to invoke the lemon law. Just remember, this is not the fault of the dealer, and they know that! Since you like the id.4, ask them to locate you one to purchase. Unless its a FE, they should be able to get you one pretty quickly.

For what it's worth, the i3 I purchased last month came with a bad software load. After I got it home, it went into service for five days so the local tech could get Germany to remote in and reinstall everything.

The car drove fine (1,700 miles home!) but oddly didn't shut down (who notices a "running" EV when it's parked, even inside the dealer's showroom?), and was missing important menus such as driver profiles and charge settings.

If you had told me this could happen I'd have been skeptical... How?!? And then, why so long to fix? I'm just surprised — a corrupt or partial software load would surely be caught along the way , and seeing how much time it's taking to resolve, I'm guessing it's not very common.

It is an FE, I have contacted customer service about a buy back. There is tons of paperwork with them. If it’s not resolved today I am going to contact the general manager to see what they can do

Are they loading 2.1 or 2.3 software version?
It had 2.1 so I don’t know if they are refreshing it or loading the 2.3. They said they were getting software updates from VW so possibly 2.3 but really don’t know. The climate control keeps coming on and off over the past 3 hours so not sure what they are doing

Latest update, they still can’t figure it out. They are working live with the engineers 👩‍💻. They are hopeful tomorrow they will have better news.

do yourself a favor. its unlikely you'll truelly have confidence in this particular vehicle. Kudos to you for being so patient and willing to work with VW. At this point, you should ask for a trade/replacement/ buyback for another ID.4. a little bit of extra paperwork will be well worth your peace of mind.
