Hello all,

My Volkswagen ID.4 is my second EV. (The other being a FIAT 500e.) I regularly drive between Otay Ranch and Barrio Logan for work along with odd trips elsewhere around the county. I currently am getting between 3.2 and 3.6 miles per kWh on most trips and have averaged 3.3 miles per kWh overall which includes a few trips to Los Angeles. I've seen others on the forum getting better efficiency from their vehicles and I was curious what others around San Diego were getting since it's probably due to this area having a lot of uneven terrain compared to places that I've lived on the east coast.

Speed matters the most and I drive quite fast... and only manage 3.0-3.1 miles per kWh. Or even on my commute to work, 10 miles one way, I still only get 2.9-3.2 miles. I must be driving it wrong ;)

I have been getting about 5 around town so far. On a recent 120 mile return trip with highway and a mountain pass I got 4.1 mpk. I agree speed is the single biggest factor. I keep it in B mode around town, try not to hurry, and stay around 70 on the highways.

Meh, to each their own as far as how you drive the vehicle. I'm just curious how someone can get over 4 miles per kWh in an ID.4. I'm definitely not a professional driver, but I do better than most people and I haven't gotten a single drive at that level of efficiency yet.

For example, in my old Ford Focus, I would re regularly get around 42 MPG when it was rated for 35 MPG Highway fuel economy. That was mostly on relatively flat roads however.

I drive from Scripps ranch to the Coronado bridge, not crossing. It's mostly downhill to work and I get 4.4 m/kwh. I the way home it's closer to 2.8. I have noticed that the downhill, mostly freeway driving in B gets 4.4, but D only gets 3.8. Coming home uphill B or D makes no difference.
