Hi,
I just checked my ID.4 trunk properly and looks like I do not have the second layer of storage that many reviewers are showing on YT.
Is it because mine isn't a FE?
I am confused I checked properly and my tunk is just flush. The only extra storage I have is like a small trunk underneath that's all.
Do any of you have the same problem?
Also which option will let me fold the mirror when parked. Can someone tell me, please?

Right, the ID.4 Pro does not have the second level of trunk storage nor the motorized side mirrors.

I wish these little things were mentioned somewhere when talking about the trim differences. Even out of spec on YT didn’t mention these in his video. Do people really think these are so minor?

VW calls it "Variable Trunk Floor" and for what it's worth, it's shown as an optional feature for higher trim in the differentiation document matrix. I'd bet it's an easy add-on, but easy doesn't mean cheap, nor necessarily available to purchase.

I totally agree with you--I was also surprised by both items you mentioned along with the inability to upgrade to a hitch receiver. I wish there was a complete comparison chart somewhere--I still haven't see one. I started thinking about going back to the dealer and saying, "hey, I changed my mind I want a FE instead." But even factoring in the surprises I decided I preferred the $5k in savings. Overall, I think VW US did a fine job picking items to lop off to get down to the $39.9k price point. It has all the most important features I wanted including lane assist and I prefer the more aero 19" wheels for the bump in range. As far as the hitch goes, the parts guy at my dealer thinks VW will eventually add the option. Until then I'm fine with hauling my bike on the roof bars.

Don’t want to give you any false hope but the hitch is already an option, the thing holding it back is they are only producing the crossmember for new vehicles but hopefully that should change soon. Personally I am holding out for an aftermarket solution as the OEM is around $500 without the receiver and is only a class 2 with a 1.25”.

Thanks, glad to finally see it spelled out clearly. I wonder if the cover page "Data Classification: Confidential" has anything to do with how hard it was for me to find that information. 🧐
I don't know, but that doc has made the rounds and as you can see that thread is 6 months old. I don't know what other sources are out there, but I've seen a more text-heavy, non graphical version of this list that I think is hosted on the VW ID.4 website.

On the upside, the MuddyBuddy/WeatherTech trunk liner seems to fit better on the true floor versus the raised floor.
I was bummed to find out too late that the Pro doesn't have a hitch receiver, it was not well advertised on the reservation site. In the end the price point worked for me. The $3500+ saved vs other trims can get an aftermarket hitch and a couple mountain bikes to mount on it.

I love my ID.4 Pro so I'm not really looking to belabor the point, but I shared the disappointment experience that the original poster went through in making discoveries about things missing on the base Pro. The ID.4 "Build and Reserve" page at vw.com has quite a bit of information about what is missing on the base Pro relative to the Pro S--so much information that I took it as a complete list. I'm just saying maybe I'm not the only shopper who makes the mistake of thinking they did their research and got the list of trim differences. I would have appreciated having a link to the complete table of trim differences in the spot where a shopper naturally goes to look for such a table.

Again, once I belatedly had the complete list of differences I would have still opted for the savings of the base model. In my case, the surprises were no power-folding mirrors, no 2-level trunk storage, no ski passthrough/folding arm rest (aka no cupholders in the back seat), and no upgrade path for a hitch receiver (for now). I provided that feedback in the post-purchase survey VW emailed to me.
