My 2023 AWD Pro S seems to have an issue where it will reset the ambient light and seat settings for each user. It used to only be on my wifes user account, but now it does it for mine too. It will be good for a day maybe, then a message that says "New settings detected for your account, change now?" if you hit accept it will turn all the ambient light to light blue and white and disregard the settings you have. If you hit cancel, it will reset it within 30 minutes.

Is this a known issue? If so, are there any fixes or settings that I am overlooking?

I'm having the same issue with my 2022 AWD Pro S with version 3.1 software. It doesn't necessarily happen daily, and when I check the system settings for software version for the infotainment system, nothing has changed. I have also had the occasional black screen followed by a reboot. A minor inconvenience unless using navigation.
For the time being I have disabled the easy entry mode for the seats,
I don't understand why it can't remember the ambient light and seat settings. Whatever the cause, it's not likely to be at the top of the software priority fix list.

I'm in the same boat as @RCA - a 2022 with 3.1. This happens a intermittently - sometimes a couple times a day, sometimes a couple times a month - no discernable pattern. The permanent roommate thought it might have been caused by her profile, so she deleted it, but the issue persists. Another joy is that I occasionally I open the door and the seat moves to the permanent roommates position. I'd love to be able to tell you to "hold tight, it'll probably get fixed in the next OTA update", but we've never had an OTA update, so...

I'm at a loss as to why the ID.4 software is so bad - other VW's we've owned have been much more reliable and trouble free.
One thing I am happy about is how well wireless Carplay has performed.

2022 pro AWD with 3.1 and had the same issue in October and November. I did a system reset and this fixed it until last week on Dec 31 oddly enough when it began to occur again.

2023 AWD Pro S running ID software 3.1.0, I had the problem initially, then it went away for about a month, suddenly it is back.
Since there have been no software updates to my ID.4 this leads me to suspect that is is a server side issue.
The VW CarNet servers are telling the vehicles that they have updated settings.

Please tell me that VW is not storing my car settings in the cloud. :)
I have this problem, resets from the last time I drove it. I've gotten a few messages stating that my settings were getting updated and that my seat position might change. They should have added a long list of other things that were going to change too.

Of course you’re settings are stored in the cloud.

This same thing happened to me last night. I was going to make a new thread about it, but searched the forum first and sure enough, I came across this thread, looks like an issue others are also seeing.

While I was driving home last night, I got the "New settings detected" message on the infotainment screen. The message also warned that the seat settings may be reset, I don't remember the exact wording since I was concentrating on driving. Anyway, I accepted the update, and the message indicator area of the screen spun for about a minute, then displayed a message that the update was successful. Immediately after, the ambient lights reverted to the default blue lights. I don't think the seat moved, or at least I could not perceive a change in position. When I arrived home and put the car in park, the seat automatically scooted back, so I knew the convenience entry (or whatever it's called) setting had been reactivated. I went into the settings and disabled that and also re-setup the ambient lights the way I like them. I checked the software version, but it was still reporting 3.1.0. I checked a few of the other settings to see if anything else got reset, but didn't find any other changes, and didn't find any new settings/features either. Does anyone know what the new settings update is all about? It doesn't seem to be a real update, but is this how a real OTA update would work if one were ever released? It was surprising to me the request to update popped up while I was driving. I would think it would be better to wait until a car is parked before asking the user to apply any software updates.

I have owned my ID.4 for approximately two months, this is the first time I've encountered this. Per the various responses here, some are seeing it more frequently than others. I hope this is the last time it happens. It will be really annoying if it ends up occurring often.

Same exact problem here. It seems to correlate with my wife driving it and switching to her profile. Sometimes it will seamlessly switch back to my profile with the correct ambient lighting and seating position, but sometimes it reverts back to the blue and white ambient lighting as others have experienced and the seating position is way too far forward for me. I’m 6’6”, so the seating position is less of a comfort thing and more of a not wanting to crush my legs against the dash thing. Embarrassingly bad bug by VW. Luckily, the “dumb” memory buttons on the side of the seat still remember a seating position I have saved so I can press that, but the profile bug is a huge inconvenience..

same issue here. seat settings are preserved, but ambient light settings go back to default. sometimes it doesn't even say new settings are detected.

Ugh, this keeps happening. It's happened three times for me and at least twice for my wife in the past five days. The last time (yesterday while I was driving to work), I selected the "cancel" option, but when I got back to the car after work, the seat and ambient light settings were reset, so I guess it applied the update anyway? Not sure why this is happening all of a sudden as I went two months without any problems whatsoever, but it's getting really annoying.

Same here. This used to be an occasional glitch (maybe once every week or 2?) but today my ambient light settings reset to default 3 times. I’m also considering turning off the easy entry/exit as it returns my seat to its set position maybe 50% of the time nowadays. It makes me wonder if some bored car-net engineer is randomly pushing new profile settings to our cars for giggles.

If they are, I wish they'd stop

I had a day or two in there where it seemed things were finally back to normal, but it happened again yesterday. This time though, there was no new settings message at all. I got back to my car after being parked for 15-20 minutes, and when I opened the door the seat slid back, indicating the easy entry had been re-enabled, so I knew it had reset. The ambient lights were still my set color though, so I wasn't sure it was the same thing, but about 30 seconds after I got in, the lights reset too. So yeah, getting pretty tired of it.

Yes, same. Sadly now I've made a habit of checking the seat position and ambient light settings every day before I leave home.

Same issue with ambient light (Pro AWD 3.1) but also with heated steering wheel. It would turn on by itself. All this randomly…. Sometimes even AC comes on for no reason. 🤷‍♂️
I'm getting these resets every couple of days now (which is an improvement as I was getting them every day or sometimes multiple times a day), and usually it's just the lights and seat settings that get reset, but at least twice the steering wheel heater has come on too. Hadn't heard anyone else mention that one yet, so thanks for the confirmation I'm not the only one!
