Same here with New Century in Glendale. No communications at all, so I called into the dealer two weeks ago and they were quite clueless. I checked the Facebook page and the ID.4 was there 4 days ago. Nobody reached out.I have my reservation through Galpin VW. I just went to their Facebook page and found out they had the ID.4 on 1/16 & 17. I have not received a single email or call from Galpin in the 4 months I have had the reservation. I am getting really annoyed with VW and Galpin - the only reason I even know the ID.4 has been touring is through this forum - I have never received a single communication on being able to see the car in person.
Can you even change the dealer? And does anyone have one in L.A. that has been proactive?Same here with New Century in Glendale. I'm wondering if there is a more responsive dealer in LA and if I can move my delivery.
My hunch is that once you order is locked, you dealer is also. This would allow them to better manage logistics of shipping and inventory of dealers. There are some high volume dealers for which preorders could overwhelm their lots. Can you even change the dealer? And does anyone have one in L.A. that has been proactive?
I wonder if VW changed anything with the dealers. It may just be semantics but I noticed on my original reservation it has Galpin as "Your Preferred Volkswagen Dealer." Now, on the owner's page, it just has Galpin as "Pickup Location." Curious if VW is cutting out the dealers for the online reservations through VW.
According to the VW Customer Care person I talked with, you can change preferred dealers up until the point the vehicle is delivered to the dealer. He said you just need to call Customer Care and they can change dealers for you.My hunch is that once you order is locked, you dealer is also. I'm near Danvers, MA. I got an email from the sales person as soon as I pre-ordered which was a good sign. He also looked into when the First Edition 2nd chance offering would open up on the website (turned out to be midnight EST) which I appreciated. Soooo hopefully I have a good experience. As always communication is very [motivated] dealership/individual salesperson dependent. My local Coastal VW in Hanover, MA has been surprisingly communicative. But pro-active reach out is always a good call as it shows you're a motivated buyer.
I would hope sending out a notice to the few pre-orders at your dealership about a post on their own FB page would be the bare minimum. Honestly there's no defense for it. It's just ineptitude; I'd certainly look to go with another dealership if possible.Your EV specialist still has to put food on the table selling other vehicles until the ID.4's are in motion and they have to start working the deals. Other than the few that have had ID.4 showings, there hasn't been much for them to say.
Don't disagree there. If there is an event, a pre-booker should be the first to know and the EV specialist should reach out.I would hope sending out a notice to the few pre-orders at your dealership about a post on their own FB page would be the bare minimum.
