Over on the German language forum, meinid.com, someone posted some firmware update info, but removed it again.
There are changes in the menu structure that he finds are better but had to get used to them again.
Some other general improvements, but I didn't come across a mention of the schedule charging.
The firmware files he had were approximately 7.5GB in size which he was able to update by USB and then get some additional parts OTA.

Ouch, that looks pretty lagged still. Not sure I'm digging the "home square" changing — it should be persistent throughout all menus. I know it's just a short clip, but I hope we see some changes in the areas that matter.

You'll notice another change is moving through menu pages is a horizontal swipe now instead of vertical scroll.

I found a couple photos that he had removed quoted further down the thread:

Maybe better lists of fast chargers in the Nav? There's a comment that the four stops listed here are more than the Nav showed before - I don't know since I don't use the built in Nav. I'll have to check how this compares.

That's good, I didn't notice but that bugged me as bad design having a hidden vertical extension on a left - right swipe layout.

I think this does that vw is serious. We won't get everything at once, but this is clear they're chipping away at it.

My sense is the UI lag is imbedded in the scattershot arrangement of software modules that combine to make up the ID package. It'll take a while to go through all of these and optimize them, so expecting only small improvements with each OTA.

I think the lag was really only with the map.

It looks to me that the home button is changing to denote going "up" a level/exit an app. That way people know if they're going back to the tile screen or not.

I see what you're saying. Ugh, confusing.

Structure looks like :

Top Level / Combo screen (small map, radio, car, phone) , swipe left to access ??? what screen ??? (note two dots at bottom). Home Square changed to move down a level to apps page.

4032

2nd levell / Apps screen (accessed by pressing the tiles button from the top level where the Home square was), swipe to see next page of apps. Pressing Home Square returns to Top Level / Combo screen

4033

3rd Level / In App (full screen map, phone, radio, car, equalizer)

4034

I think what I'm not liking is the Home button not consistently being present to get back to square one. For instance, in the full screen map above, pressing what should be the Home button instead goes back to Apps Page. I could live with this, but it's still klunky.

Also, look at the delay when he's swiping left and right between the app screens. It's not stuttery, but it's slow to react to his fingers changing direction. That's the lag I'm talking about.

Again, not awful, but it ought to be smooth and immediate.

I wonder if that change was made to allow more things to use the gesture scrolling

I recall it being said that there was "more to come" with gestures. But then again, even if I could gesture vertically to scroll, I don't think scrolling in two directions is functional.

One thing he noted I forgot to mention. He thinks the gesture control (away from the screen) is somehow interfering with touch control - and this is causing some of the lag.

I know something like this has been posted before, but when I go to service mode to view the software version I get this message. I’ve hit “start update” several time and there is no noticeable feedback or indication it’s doing anything.

I’ll check later to see if anything has been updated, but definitely weird to see.

seems this reviewer already has most of the 2.3 update running in his GTX:
Yeah, The GTXs being delivered in Europe right now have it. Let's see what the US AWDs get. And then maybe we can get the update on existing cars, too. 🤞

What would be the justification for not pushing it out OTA? If it's prime time enough to install in the GTX cars going out there's 0 reason not to push it out to the RWD cars on Europe.

It's possible the AWD delays were software related, and VW has this version as an "interim fix to get it out the door but not where we want to be." Pure speculation, of course, but lines up with something posted earlier that the first OTA for us RWD owners would skip a version and be in September.
