Has anyone received the OTA update yet? Did you have to go to the dealership or did the download happened automatically when you started the download.

As you might expect, there are already many threads on this subject. Search v2.3

In the USA the short answer is No and we have no real idea when VW will provide same. Much conjecture - no facts.

@ID.Furkan posted a VW "update on the update" on his YouTube page you can read here: https://youtube.com/c/IDFurkan

It sounds like a slow regional rollout in Europe, too, with some countries not slated to begin for another few weeks (week 38 was last week, so week 42 is a month from now, and yet others have TBD as a date).

Not clear is the "driver's club" is an opt-in program or a resource for sharing the info.

I assume this means we US owners need to continue to cool our heels — that once we do get official word, it's not going to happen overnight. We may be talking about 3.0 by then.

Are new cars going to at least come with the latest software?
I'm told by someone that should know that it will get cut over at some point in the manufacturing soon, but he mumbled when and I didn't feel like being picky enough to ask. My car is due in January, and I did catch, however, that I should be 'close to the factory cutover to the new version' depending on when our manufacturing actually starts.

Was implied an 8 week time from start to delivery 'on average', so an early to mid-January delivery by that timing means an early to mid-November manufacturing date.

Anecdotal probably as well, but was implied that it would happen for sure at some point.

My August build still had v2.1. Don’t have any serious issues, though - it’s just a bit slow to turn on when you start the car after it’s sat for a while, and sometimes a little laggy when swiping around. Voice recognition is also a little slow. But CarPlay works beautifully and I’ve used built in Nav a few times with no issues.

So today I tried the new EA app on Apple CarPlay.
Doh 🙄, ya gotta look at the EA pedestal to get its number before you get out to plug in.
After a bit of fumbling I got it to work 👍.
Next step, make it so I don't have to get out to plug in 😉.

I think you can safely assume they won’t.

There was an official VW announcement recently regarding OTA updates. I’ll try to find it. Basically it said the OTA updates will occur at 90 day intervals, starting now for everyone (haven’t seen it yet). These updates only apply to the “center stack” infotainment system. It implied that there won’t be OTA updates to the drivetrain software. That ain’t happening as I read it.

I think the car CAN technically update anything that's connected to a bus reachable from the central computer. Possibly they choose to NOT update certain things for sure. High-performance computers on the move - Continental Magazin

But there are a lot of updates coming in the 2.3 release from the VW presser for it, including safety system updates among others. So I also don't think it's just the center stack that will be updated.

Volkswagen introduces Over-the-Air Updates for all ID. models (volkswagenag.com)

And wouldn't hold our breath on 90-day updates. I think at first we are going to be lucky to see 2 a year for a bit. Maybe as they get going it will speed up.

Where did you read this?

Does this mean we can expect to never get proper auto hold enabled in the US? Ugg.

For some modules, it might mean the dealer has to do it. Which would be awful, really as the dealers generally are leery of just updating things if there isn't a problem to be solved.

Here is what's coming in 2.3 cribbed from the VW UK website:

Rectangle Font Circle Number Magenta

ID. Software Update 2.3 | Important Information | Volkswagen UK

And here are 2 YouTube videos that claim to show every module that's touched in the car from the update. You'll notice that it's pretty big.

Software Versions Update 2.3 - Part 1 - YouTube <-- all the car systems udpates

Software Versions Update 2.3 - Part 2 / 0910 - YouTube <-- infotainment updates

Edit: Oooh, he added a Google doc with all of them for reference: ID.Furkan VW ID.4 Master Sheet - Google Sheets

I wonder if they are counting the Navigation updates... if so, many of us have had an OTA update, it just isn't obvious.

Not received anything in UK yet. Anyone else?

Bit puzzled as I think I read it didn't download or install when on WiFi only on 3G, and when I park up it's normally on the home WiFi. Would be nice if they actually said rollout was starting in a country, or you could see if it was pending.

It has been frustrating waiting for the update but what is even more frustrating is the lack of information from VW. What are the plans for a USA rollout going forward?

Here is what they wrote in the VW facebook group:
The process that was described applied from July, 5th until August, 8th 2021 and exclusively for the members of the First Movers Club at that time.
Now, that the First Movers Club became the ID. Drivers Club and is open to all European ID. customers, we have started the rollout of the ID.Software2.3 for all.
The process is now different, as you do not longer have to reach out to us in advance. Instead, you have already received or will shortly receive an email (to the email address that’s stored in your Volkswagen ID) in which you can agree to download the Over-the-Air ID.Software2.3 update.
The update will be rolled out in waves and our planning for the countries in the coming calendar weeks (CW) is as follows:
• Wave 1 (CW38) - Germany and Austria
• Wave 2 (CW40) – Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, UK, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and others
• Wave 3 (CW42) – Greece, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and others
• Wave 4 (tbd) – Last wave for those of you who gave their agreement too late for the planned wave or who’s ID. was not running ID.Software2.1 at that time.
Please note that the rollout week does not necessarily mean, that your ID. will download the software in the exact same week. It can take up to several weeks before the download starts. Please read our Tips & Tricks carefully.
Important:
The following requirements are necessary:
• Active We Connect Start contract and your ID. is linked to your account (via the We Connect ID. app).
• Your ID. is already on ID.Software2.1.
• No factory reset or deleting the ID. from the app before the update is completely installed - otherwise we have to take your car out of the running campaign due to GDPR.
