On my 2021 ID.4 the AC was blowing warm air (I’m in Florida but we’ve had cool weather and I drove up to Baltimore a week before Thanksgiving and the temps were never above 55) and last week, the temp hit 80 and no cool air. I took the car to the dealer today and the service tech told me that the AC system needed an update to the software. I asked him if this was the update that I’ve been reading about online and he didn’t know anything about it. Has anyone had a software update that covers only one specific system, or, did they update my entire system?
PS-the service techs are really clueless about the ID.4.

This dealer needs to update their EV tech. I’m experiencing how clueless dealer techs are in all things ID.4. Total and absolute disaster.

Had this issue back in early September.
Took a month to get the refrigerant pressure switch. Replaced at my 20k service, mid November. NOT a software issue, sheesh 🙄.
Even a corner gas station tech could troubleshoot this, wouldn't be covered by the warranty though.

I've always been advised (as difficult as it is for a tech savvy guy) to not specifically state what you think the possible cause and remedy may be. It often leads the tech to do exactly as cited and they may miss some more significant root cause that their own diagnosis might have revealed. Just state your vehicle's situation in more generalized terms, such as the cited "AC blows hot", and leave it at that.

I do recommend you keep your knowledge in your hip pocket to use as your own sanity check when they report back their findings. If vastly differing then you can impart your own technical insight.

To your original question, Yes, I had a recall to correct a problem with a rear seatbelt which was corrected by a software update. I have a 21 Pro S RWD with 35k miles and it's the best car I've ever had.

Hi there,
I am lost .... I brought US made WV Atlas Crossover to Europe, hoping they would do software update to Europen standarts, but I failed!!!
They ARE NOT ABLE to do this, meaning WV headquoter said this is an american car with american specs, and it is not compactible with EU. Well, I know that, that is why I was planning do software update. Well, Europe WV will not release software update for car made in America ?!?!?!. That means: first, If US software crashed somwhere on the road, I am not able to take care for repair anywhere. Second, I might not able to pass technical inspection and get pepers to get Europe licence plate (I was hopping to leave car in europe).
Any suggestions? I guess, in the worst scenario, I would have to ship car back to US. Bummer!

Unfortunately, I think shipping back is your only option unless you can register it there. Good luck.

Independent service departments should be able to get many things done for you to pass EU requirements....bat any warranty or software updates will have to be done by Independent service department..... you will be liable for all costs. There is only couple manufacturers that will honor warranty between US and EU. Unfortunately vehicle designed for US market will honor warranty only in US.
I have same issue with my Ram pickup T-Rex and my daughter Dodge Charger wide body RedEye. Warranty is gone because I have it imported from US to Germany.
But this doesn't bother me, I was aware of this issue and out of pocket for all retrofitting and all repairs.
Good luck.

Hi there and thank you for answer :).
I understand, I would be responsible financialy for any software updates, and that is fine. My problem is, when I went to VW dealer in Czech Republic (would that be considered independent service department?), they told me they reached out to German headquoter to relese software update for my car, but they said I'm sorry...
When it comes to waranty, I also understand it wouldn't apply in in Europe, but just in case, are you aware of any place that would accept VW Atlas Crossover 2020 in Europe? Probably not since you have Dodge and Ram picup ...
Well, I am going to fix my back fog lights next week (mandatory for driving in Czech), and then for main inspection of my car to get Europen technical documents, so lets see...

Thank you again,
RH

You should look for independent service centers that work on VW, Audi, Porsche... Dealer VW service centers cannot do this type of work because they have to follow VW guidelines. When you call around ask if they have subscription to ODIS tool and if they have experience with coding, module and etc.
There is way around but you will have to research for good independent service center with mechanics that can do this type of work on your vehicle that is imported from US.
