They are currently updating the demo cars at the dealers in Europe to test the rollout.
The European invitations will only be sent from the dealers next week.
The madhouse has erupted with impatient people who calling the dealers with requests for an appointment.😆

Some people got invites already (including me)
They seem fully random though, it's not that the oldest cars go first or something.
I'm actually planned end of august.
The only curious bit is that they are talking about 3.0 here, and not 3.1
the new cars here also run on 3.0.

So for once the US market seems ahead of us :D

Isn’t the EU 3.1 version supposed to include plug n charge?
I don’t think the US 3.1 version includes this feature. It seems EU 3.0 vs US 3.1= Same.
Not really as the US 3.1 has a new screen in the binnacle showing real time energy usage, etc, etc. that is a screen only shown in beta 3.1 systems in the EU. So I'm not expecting it to be there in 3.0. I'll need to wait another 6 weeks or so before I can confirm that though

OK OK we're all tired of this refrain. But I thought I saw a message somewhere (from VW? Or someone "dealer connection"?) Saying that there would be information about 3.1 updates for existing owners coming this week. Well the week's not over but...
Are we there yet?
I was at my dealership yesterday, July 8th. I asked the guy at the service department if they had any information about the pending ID.4 updates. He said they hadn't been informed of any update requiring ID.4 owners to bring their cars in before getting OTA updates. The wait continues…

Since most US vehicles don't have all the sensors maybe we are going to run a ever so slightly different firmware.

Friend of mine “doesn’t trust” software updates; his Mac is running an OS version from a couple of years ago. Which I keep telling him is crazy because malware phishing viruses exploits blah blah blah.

I wonder what the situation will be for customers who refuse to cooperate with software updates? With Tesla, I think they just happen. When VW gets around to issuing one, will it be refusable? Or will your warranty be voided? Or maybe you can’t get service from the dealer?

Maybe you're correct, but the US 3.0 is one step premature of the EU 3.0.

VoA's announcement to their US dealerships which was subsequently shared here referred to a port-installed 3.0 update in early June that would require a later dealership visit to update to 3.1, and 3.1 available for port updates someone in very late June/early July. And that's how it played out.

This is where it's dicey. 3.0 and 3.1 are clearly different.

In the EU, owners will get 2.4 in shop, then (according to VW First Movers) get 3.0 OTA.

In the US, we'll get 3.1 in shop, but the tech will need to step us through 2.4 (and 2.3) to get us there.

So... since US 3.0 cars will require a shop visit, it's logical to conclude that 2.4 (BMS module update) will be applied at that time (2.4 only became "available" in late June, coinciding with 3.1 being available to install in port).

But why would VW AG be communicating to their EU owners that they will OTA to 3.0 some time after they've been shop-updated to 2.4? I can't make sense of that.

In other words, 3.0 in the US = no BMS update.

3.0 in EU = post-BMS update.
