We had pre-ordered a red Solterra and took it for a test drive. Also in Vermont. The battery capacity, charging, and first gen edition were the differentiators for us. We passed on the solterra and went with a 2022 id.4. Needs snow tires but has been good in the winter - great on the clearance for VT roads.

The solterra would have been our fifth subaru - we also have an Ascent - so we really wanted to stay with Subaru but in the end went with the ID4.

I have an AWD Pro S Plus reserved. For me, the overhead view was the reason to go to the plus. But now I understand that the plus will not have that feature. So I am likely to choose between the AWD Pro S and the Subaru Solterra Limited. The differences so far:

Subaru -
$4000 less expensive (getting rebate on a lease)
OHD 360 view
readily available in red

VW-
longer warranty
moon roof
free charging (but no EA in Vermont and I will use only a few times a year)
rear wiper
trailer hitch
I prefer blue that is hard to find
Three years free connect service

What have I missed?

Colchester is slated for a June 2023 install of an EA charger
