One of the most enduring questions about the ID.4 has been, "why is this hole in the tailgate?" Here are a couple of new answers to that question available at my Etsy shop links below:

Sky Yellow Line Air travel Aviation

This one if you don't have the red safety triangle. It covers the hole and gives a bit of secret storage:

This one if you do have the safety triangle installed in your car, but would rather have a more refined look for your tailgate:

It was a lot of caliper work, but it was fun to create these.

"enduring questions"?

Really?

Sure I've seen it asked a few times on here. But the question is usually answered within a few minutes.

That is where the warning triangle goes (deleted on US models).

Next you'll be asking about the straps for the first aid kit...

By the way, I've ordered some custom decals for identifying the safety triangle is contained within. Wait till next week if you are interested in having that included with you order for the the safety triangle cover. It will be a simple 2" sticker with this image:

Wow, I guess you're not a fan of tongue in cheek prose. That and a bit of marketing sensationalism which made me grin. Must be a more this side o' the pond thing. Then again marketeers here tend to hire British actors to make their sensationalized ad's sound more authoritative. "How much would you pay ... but wait ..." 🤪

I asked the question early on myself and it took awhile to be answered. And then it was re-asked in a number of other threads (as a Mod I'm likely more attuned to seeing repetition).

Anyway, I continue to be very impressed with all the CAD/3D printer designers who are dedicated to our ID.4's. It sure is nice to have these well conceived and executed offerings. :) (y)

I'm all for people designing, manufacturing, and hawking their wares.

Hyperbolic prose in the promotion thereof is slimy and inelegant.

As a resolute American, I do have to ask... Should I try to get one of those safety triangles and put it in there? If the slot is already there, the idea doesn't seem stupid... Am I missing something there?
I don't think it's a bad idea. There's a good reason some countries require it. I used this source and got it within a couple of weeks:

It will definitely be appreciated by professional drivers and especially Truck drivers....because it is just making your vehicle more visible if broken down on emergency line.
Good luck.

I just had to fill my hole, just because. I also like still having something with four rings on it. ;)

[btw: despite my initial comment in my linked thread I did end up getting the emergency pack, but the warning triangle contained therein is a tiny cheap one.]

As a designer, there's nothing wrong with coming up with a new design.
Nothing at all wrong with coming up with a new design. Even selling that design for personal profit is fine. Describing: "What is that hole for?", "That is where the warning triangle goes", as an "enduring question" is dumb.

My daughter's ICE car broke down on I-95 outside of Boston, after dark, during rush hour, in the rain last week. Her battery died and the car just stopped, so no flashers. I was really wishing she had one of those triangle thingies when she called for help!

I'll bet her Dad will now provide, if not already so. It's what we do. ;)

I think going on and on about this is dumb, but that's just me. 🤷‍♂️
I'm just responding to people who seem keen to keep the conversation going.

I wish the guy well with his products. He'll probably sell more if he drops the hyperbole.
