I read that dealers are receiving AWD Pros for test rides; since the First Editions are sold-out, it seems like there's no point in dealers keeping FEs for test rides anymore, so they're probably all "for sale" at this point.

I live in Minnesota. It's not major-snow-country, but when I've described the different ID.4 models to non-EV'ers, the RWD FE pretty much gets zero interest. I suspect that most Minnesotans would value ANY all-wheel Pro above the RWD FE.

My guess is that in my market, an FE at the dealer would have to be priced somewhere between the $40k Pro and the $43,675 AWD Pro. I wonder what the local dealers will do? Mark them down to $42k? Or maybe trade them to a dealer in a warm state (maybe trade for a couple Routans, which still sell here in MN, but are like Kryptonite elsewhere).

It's hard to imagine a demo wouldn't be discounted belo MSRP, but demand will ultimately determine price.

There were a few stories on these boards of dealerships taking possession of I new D.4s from other regions where they weren't selling so quickly. I'd expect that if Twin Cities demand is sufficiently low, these demos might end up on a truck to a budget demand region rather than be sold at a hefty discount.

I see First Editions discounted anywhere between $500-$1300 in upstate NY or like, Fargo. I'd expect your demo units will end up around there somewhere, if I had to guess. Any more, and they may make more money just trading it to another dealership.

My VW dealer has been sitting on the same three 1st Edition ID.4s for some time now. I would like to see what a Pro looks like but I believe that a lot of folks ( including myself) are turned off by the white steering wheel, etc.

Funny, this weekend I cleaned my white steering wheel (it's actually a very light grey) for the first time after nearly three months of ownership. Looks exactly the same before and after, and no smudges on the microfiber cloth I used either. For the record, I am not a fastidious hand washer, even in these late pandemic times, and my tan wheel in a Volvo some 15 years ago did get very ugly in no time.

I've read elsewhere (not sure where at this point) and a dealer's rep confirmed that VW is taking back the FE demos at some point, dealers will not be selling them...

When a rep says "VW's taking them back" it's not to put them in a museum or scrap them. They'll sell them where they have the greatest value.

I guess they're not demos, but I see several new FE's locally, and they're all listed at MSRP ($45,425). So long as there are no AWDs, those may yet sell at $45k. But the window is closing.
Considering there are markets where dealers are asking $2000 to $5000, a "gently used" 500-drivers demo may still fetch MSRP. (Kinda depends if dealers are really making any traction with those insane markups.)
