Are these the ones, which are either supposed to fit in the sparewheel hub or at the back of the boot?

Cool - I did know you could order this post-production already - I know that is where they will eventually put the upgraded system in the GTX, for example.

So, how would installing these work on a US ID.4? I am very interested. Would the system sense that genuine VW parts were connected and reconfigure to take advantage of them or would it require reprograming from a dealer at who knows what cost of they v even know how?

Since these are original parts I would assume it should be plug and play. Ask your dealer beforehand to make sure.

No those are neither not available here or not worth it, there were Harmon/Kadon options in Chinese market. I do it the old fashion way and installed a 12" sub in the boot.

May I ask: how did you install it and how did you get around the software-issue (getting the sub "coded" to the sound system)?
