Has anyone else heard of the opening of the Tesla networks to all EV brands with a purchase adapter? This would certainly improve the range and area of travel beyond Electrify America network.

Yep, interested to find out how the adapter works, and if the ID.4 will work well. Our charge port is on the wrong side of the car relative to Tesla's charge ports, so the cable might not reach unless you're parked one stall over.

A little search here and you would find that yes Tesla is working on opening their Superchargers to other EV's by the end of the year and you need to have the Tesla app on your phone to access the charger and pay. You will also need an adaptor to get between your car and the Tesla connector.

I hadn't thought of that before. Wow. That's makes it really difficult. I'm sure it can be addressed in some way (i.e. extension, charger changes, etc), but not sure how that's going to work in the short term. We could buy an adapter with extension, but that's something bigger to have to lug around. Well, choice is better than no choice.

In one press conference, Elon said it will likely involve adapters. The only place adapters would be necessary is CCS1 regions (North America primarily).
Nothing out of ordinary...owning another adapter..... That is part of experience all EV owners will have to live with in US.....and hopefully one day future EV owners will have less things to carry on the roads.

The way I read it, is that the infrastructure bill which may be passed tomorrow will put $7.5bn into charge stations. Looking at Dieselgate, I see some states offering grants of 33% (Michigan) to 80% (Minnesota) of EV DCFC project cost. If Tesla can bid on those projects, perhaps they can fund a bunch of new Tesla sites at 50% cost... if the sites are open to everyone.

Personally, I'd suggest that Tesla be required to offer dual CCS & Tesla cables (similar to the CCS + Chademo we see at some EA dispensers), rather than just an adapter. Since these bids would be for new stations, Tesla could put the dispensers at the center of each stall, and not to the side.

Existing superchargers might still need the adapters and fancy parking.

I have only seen the Tesla chargers behind the charging stalls. So that would be a little better but still might be close.
