Citation requested.Cross traffic as in backing out of a drive way into a street or road. That's illegal here.
LA has the advantage thar power to their street lights is 240vWe have none of these around here (SoCal) but I've seen street chargers in Europe where you pull over, park, and plug in. The right side of the vehicle makes sense for this scenario. Other than that I give it no thought.
You are right about that. But then, what's life without some complaints. If the biggest downside of the ID4 is the charging location, then we are doing a lot right. 😉
My understanding is that the J1772 standard only allows a maximum charging cable length of 25 feet.Question about the extension cables. Is there safety concern to have too long of a cable from the EV charger more than 25 feet?
Don’t misunderstand me, I am not at all dismissing this complaint. I am only saying that if that is the biggest complaint, then we are doing well. You are right about that. But then, what's life without some complaints.
We installed our level 2 charger outside just in front right side of the garage (looking at the garage from the driveway) as we generally park in the driveway, head in. My wife's Etron works nicely with the front charging ports, which she parks on the right side of the driveway, closer to the entrance to the house. When I get my ID 4, the charge cable will be just barely long enough to reach the back right, parked on the left side of the driveway. I would have liked it to be in the front as well, but can't have everything.

I believe the 25' limit comes from the NEC:My understanding is that the J1772 standard only allows a maximum charging cable length of 25 feet.
Please keep the charge port where it is now. It’s the perfect location.Don’t misunderstand me, I am not at all dismissing this complaint. I am only saying that if that is the biggest complaint, then we are doing well.
I happen to agree that the charge port would make more sense near the front of the vehicle.

Next time you will be replacing your Tesla and charge port will be on the opposite side. You will sing a different song thenPlease keep the charge port where it is now. It’s the perfect location.
This is a good point. I've certainly been seeing more chargers on sidewalks next to parallel parking spots. Having the port on the right side seems better for this reason alone. We have none of these around here (SoCal) but I've seen street chargers in Europe where you pull over, park, and plug in. The right side of the vehicle makes sense for this scenario. Other than that I give it no thought.
I will buy a car that has the port where I need it to be. You need the port in the front? There are plenty of EVs with that configuration.Next time you will be replacing your Tesla and charge port will be on the opposite side. You will sing a different song then

Kia Nero, Hyundai Kona, Chevrolet Bolt EV/EUV, Ford Mach-E, Toyota bZ4X, Subaru Solterra...that's the mostfunniestridiculous thing I've heard today. Please do indulge me though, which eCUVs for $50k I can buy with the charging port in the front?
We are talking about comparable SUV to id.4, in terms of prices/features, none of those options are workable. They are either small and/or no AWD or simply more money.Kia Nero, Hyundai Kona, Chevrolet Bolt EV/EUV, Ford Mach-E, Toyota bZ4X, Subaru Solterra...
