Backing up into cross traffic may be illegal depending on you local regulations, it is where I live. And there's an increased risk of at fault collision.

Unless you can turn around on your driveway, doesn't that require you to backup from the street? Thankfully, it's not illegal were I live. YMMV. ;)

We have none of these around here (SoCal) but I've seen street chargers in Europe where you pull over, park, and plug in. The right side of the vehicle makes sense for this scenario. Other than that I give it no thought.

It's not the "biggest" problem but when we were cross-shopping the Mach E the front panel charge port made much more sense. We would have purchased either car and ended up with the ID4, which I personally think bests the Mach E in most categories, except the charge port location. My lovely wife does not feel comfortable backing the car into our fairly tight garage. I have to turn it around every single night so we can plug it in.

If the biggest downside of the ID4 is the charging location, then we are doing a lot right. 😉
You are right about that. But then, what's life without some complaints.

We installed our level 2 charger outside just in front right side of the garage (looking at the garage from the driveway) as we generally park in the driveway, head in. My wife's Etron works nicely with the front charging ports, which she parks on the right side of the driveway, closer to the entrance to the house. When I get my ID 4, the charge cable will be just barely long enough to reach the back right, parked on the left side of the driveway. I would have liked it to be in the front as well, but can't have everything.

Question about the extension cables. Is there safety concern to have too long of a cable from the EV charger more than 25 feet?

Don’t misunderstand me, I am not at all dismissing this complaint. I am only saying that if that is the biggest complaint, then we are doing well.
I happen to agree that the charge port would make more sense near the front of the vehicle.

My understanding is that the J1772 standard only allows a maximum charging cable length of 25 feet.
I believe the 25' limit comes from the NEC:

ARTICLE 625 Electric Vehicle Charging and Supply Equipment Systems
625.17 Cords and Cables. (9) (A) Power Supply Cord. The cable for cord-connected equipment shall comply with all of the following: (1) Be any of the types specified in (B)(1) or Hard Service Cord, Junior Hard Service Cord and Portable Power Cable types in accordance with Table 400.4. Hard Service Cord, Junior Hard Service Cord and Portable Power Cable types shall be listed, as applicable, for exposure to oil and damp and wet locations. Exception: A power supply cord that is listed as a part of the electric vehicle supply equipment or electric vehicle charging system. (2) Have an ampacity as specified in Table 400.5(A)(1) or, for 8 AWG and larger, in the 60 C columns of Table 400.5(A)(2). (3) Have an overall length as specified in (a) or (b): (a) When the interrupting device of the personnel protection system specified in 625.22 is located within the enclosure of the supply equipment or charging system, the power supply cord shall be no more than 300 mm (12 in.) long, (b) When the interrupting device of the personnel protection system specified in 625.22 is located at the attachment plug, or within the first 300 mm (12 in.) of the power supply cord, the overall cord length shall be a minimum of 1.8 m (6 ft) and shall be no greater than 4.6 m (15 ft). (B) Output Cable to the Electric Vehicle. The output cable to the electric vehicle shall comply with all of the following: (1) Be Type EV, EVJ, EVE, EVJE, EVT, or EVJT flexible cable as specified in Table 400.4. (2) Have an ampacity as specified in Table 400.5(A)(1) or, for 8 AWG and larger, in the 60 C columns of Table 400.5(A)(2). Exception to (2): An output cable to the electric vehicle that is listed as a part of the electric vehicle supply equipment or electric vehicle charging system. Informational Note: Listed electric vehicle supply equipment or electric vehicle charging system may incorporate output cables having ampacities greater than 60C based on the permissible temperature limits for the components and the cable. (C) Overall Cord and Cable Length. The overall useable length shall not exceed 7.5 m (25 ft) unless equipped with a cable management system that is part of a listed the electric vehicle supply equipment or electric vehicle charging system.

Please keep the charge port where it is now. It’s the perfect location.

Next time you will be replacing your Tesla and charge port will be on the opposite side. You will sing a different song then

This is a good point. I've certainly been seeing more chargers on sidewalks next to parallel parking spots. Having the port on the right side seems better for this reason alone.

Same here, we have quite a few charger on sidewalks or road side so the right side port works well. There one location with 4 chargers on the left side of a one way. There‘s a bike line parallel to the spots in close proximity that always worry me when I charge there.

I will buy a car that has the port where I need it to be. You need the port in the front? There are plenty of EVs with that configuration.

that's the most funniest ridiculous thing I've heard today. Please do indulge me though, which eCUVs for $50k I can buy with the charging port in the front?

Kia Nero, Hyundai Kona, Chevrolet Bolt EV/EUV, Ford Mach-E, Toyota bZ4X, Subaru Solterra...
We are talking about comparable SUV to id.4, in terms of prices/features, none of those options are workable. They are either small and/or no AWD or simply more money.
