The ID4 is a great car! Remember the Internet is where the “issues” live..

Remember - the majority of people the are happy and enjoying their ID4 are not posting this fact.

But to counter some of the negativity and “bad experiences” out there. Remember it happens elsewhere too (a post of mine w/pic from another venue) - look familiar?

Same sh*t, different page! 🤣
I joined the Tesla page (and CT page) to see if the posts were similar about issues, quality, returning their cars, etc… It was eerily similar - thought I was reading this group but wasn’t!

Goes to show you - 🤣🤣🤣

My car just works. Had it 4 weeks and 1,500 miles. None of the issues I have read about here live in my car. 😁

My take on this is that pretty much everyone within the ID4 community knows that the infotainment and software have many issues that VW needs to address. I think we are all waiting for the software to be introduce soon with over the air updates. Now to what issues it will address will remain to be seen.

I took delivery of my car a week ago and has less than 300 miles and ran into some software issues already that I will soon place into the pin tread: Aux heating warning say it does not work from infotainment when I was able to start/stop it after charging at EA station, slow system performance, Speech system did not take any input until I shut down the car.

Car driving dynamics is great. VW needs to kill all the major bugs in the software with OTA and introduce your standard features in the CarNet app (e.g. remote lock/unlock, sending POI from phone to car, etc), basically all the standard CarNet functions that is there for all other VW models.

Agreed. Give it a year for the average consumer. For the moment this is great car with a few wrinkles and early buyers should set realistic expectations.

The people in Europe who already have the 2.3 update seem to think that the release mainly deals with stability and performance. No significant new functionality being released.

It's a bit like the advice from a former flight instructor: if you're deviating from course, first you've got to halt the deviation before making a course correction.

VW is taking the safe approach here, getting their system stabilized before adding / modifying features.

I expect visible changes from the rumored 3.0 release this winter.

I’m driving 2.3 and I have to agree. Nothing majorly new. Am actually pretty happy with it.

expect this to become a trend. The big .0 releases will add features and the minor .y releases will be focused in majority on squashing bugs and improving the overall usability. The end of year release should be 3.0 if I read the roadmap correctly

I have owned 3 Tesla’s and this post is 100% correct. I was part of those forums and two things were prevalent, a laundry list of threads about issues, and angry fanboys that attack you if you dare complain about anything. 😂😂

Every car has problems. Given the fact that ours is first in the USA makes it look like a little more complicated and risky but VW is known with their ability to work around minor issues and problems (with extended warranties, TSBs, recalls and now over the air updates) so I think everything will be fine at the end. I remember when I bought my MkV GTI in 2006 it was the first model that hit the USA market and everyone was telling me I am taking a chance, I will be like guinea pig bla bla bla things but nothing major happened and that car still serves me well after a decade and a half. Don't sweat the small stuff!
Exchanging experience and learning from other owners that actually have issues are real.....so instead giving them more hard time is inappropriate..... whenever owner comes to the forum to express negative experience should be taken same as someone who has good experience.
All of the people who are not familiar with capabilities over the air updates....should learn and it is going to be taken care of or if there are Hardware problems it will be handled by real technicians at the dealership..... Some old folks do remember that it took almost 1 century to perfect ICE cars......Electric cars will have much faster evolution but it will take some time and it will only get better over time with over the air updates capabilities.
There are a lot of things happening when some major ICE maker goes to EV architecture.......Hardware and software development is more involved and it takes time to get all.

Totally get it….The position of the post was to show the casual reader who may be consider this great car, that it isn’t all bad and that EVERY platform (vehicle, TV, computer, etc) has it’s issues that are consistently being improved upon and worked out. Just wanted to put a perspective on it that the ID4 is not the only vehicle out there that has its hiccups.

Yes, we welcome all here and do appreciate those with issues. It's just refreshing to read a thread expressing the positives, especially as automotive forums tend to [unfair and unbalanced] accentuate the negatives.

I don't think anyone is giving those with issues a hard time. The moderating team keeps an eye on such, in addition to conscientious members, which most here are. Quite the opposite we've seen much assistance rendered by members augmenting say the less than ideal owner's manual and/or providing VW points of contact.

The only pushback has been against those who malign the ID simply to malign, for no constructive purpose, and that won't be tolerated.

Apple never tells me when an update is coming either. ;)
